Well, I don't know any alcoholics because then I would obviously see a difference.  Everyone else I know can control their booze.

And what did I just say about smoking?  As in the cigarette legal kind?  I don't like that either.

You don't need to be an alcoholic for alcohol to change your personality. I certainly wasn't an alcoholic and I was a proper dickhead when I was drunk.

Alcohol is surely one of the main reasons you've been able to have sex with guys, and I'm not saying that in a derogatory way.

I say that meaning that both you and the guy are less shy and more self-assured, because of the effects that alcohol has. This is a change in behaviour from alcohol, no?

I can and do.  Sorry.

If people are allowed to dislike tattoos then I am allowed to dislike drug use.  Its as simple as that.

The difference is that people on here aren't suggesting that tattoos should be illegal.

Leaving yourself open to a retort there, son.

Yes, I'm aware of that. No offence to her, but I didn't think Amy would pick up on it.

Glad you read what I said, Amy. Rolling Eyes

Alcohol is one of the main reasons why people shag others silly at the weekends.

It should absolutely be legal. The government should have no say in what I want to put into my body.

I'm not a drug user, but I acknowledge a person's rights to do as they please with their own body, so long as they aren't harming anyone else.

Problem is, nowadays they are harming others, through the cost to the NHS and the benefits system because they take drugs.

I'm sick of arguing with you two now, I just can't be arsed anymore.  Agree to disagree is the only way to go.

So you think alcohol should be illegal too? Everything you've said can equally be applied to alcohol.

And I'm talking about physical harm. There are many things we could make illegal in order to save money for the NHS. Freedom has a price, however.

This is a valid point and so is this

And don't forget the crime to support the habit.

As someone that has never ever taken drugs (not even party poppers, nor dope) I can't understand the attraction.  As someone that likes a drink (now and again), I can't see the attraction of getting drunk.  Yes, I have got drunk on the odd ocassion (lost the house keys one time Embarassed ) but I realise that I like being in control more.

As a parent, I hope that I've set out the pitfalls of getting bladdered and I would be horrified if my kids were taking drugs.  An addition is a terrible thing and I'm not saying that all drugs lead this way, but more often than not, they do.  I wonder if any of you would feel the same if you had kids Think

They wouldn't have to resort to crime if it was legal.

Wouldn't change my mind. I would do my best to educate my children, but it would be hypocritical of me to want drugs to be illegal.

On cost to the NHS, what about smokers? Sorry but within the next 20 years no one who smokes can say they started smoking before there was an awareness of how bad it is for you. At that point (or sooner in my view) we shouldn't be wasting NHS money on transplants and cancer treatment on people who are deliberately harming themselves by smoking Shrug

On the topic. If tobacco and cannabis were both discovered now then cannabis would be legal and tobacco wouldn't. With the exception of cannabis though (and it still causes problems, and as Yamor said is seen a lot with a certain percentage on unemployment benefits) I'm not in favour of legalising drugs.

Cannabis is still smoked and I don't like it.  Having to kiss someone who has just been smoking is rank!  On two occasions I haven't got involved with a lad because they smoke, and one did weed.   Horrible turn off.  And my brother is a bit head ****** from cannabis and I don't wish to know anyone else who has been taking it.
