How fast is your Internet connection?

Quote

Over the entire area of the USA, I would say 5% has broadband? And not necessarily good broadband either... I would love to be corrected if I'm wrong though...

Never said it was better, just correcting you, as you requested... Wink

A broadband subscription does not necessarily represent one person, as multiple users can potentially share one broadband connection.

Ok I got 131 kbs Download and 343 kbs upload.  And I'm not entirely sure what that means :p

I noticed recently that my videos like on you tube are downloading fast.  I did another test and I got this

7022 Download
348 Upload

How can that be so different and I haven't done anything (not to my knowledge anyway) to do that. Think

In England most broadband uses ADSL technology, which stands for "asymmetric digital subscriber line". The asymmetric part means its quicker one way then the other. In practice, since most people download more then upload, the quicker speed is used for downloading. There are other reasons for this as well, you can read all about it on wikipedia...

I can understand why download is higher, but a few months ago my download was 131 and now its 7022.

Ah, sorry, i just re-read your original post. I had thought you were asking about the difference in upload and download speed.
I've got no idea why it was so slow originally, there could be a lot of reasons. Test again every so often, and if you get such slow speeds more then once in a while, you should contact your broadband supplier.
