Pretty scary stuff! Given that of the 22 people in close contact with the couple now in Hospital, 9 are showing signs of having it.

All the cases outside Mexico seem to be recovering as normal with treatment though. See how the story is at the end of the week...

As distasteful as it sounds, events like this excite me considering I'm studying how interconnected society is on a global scale.

This virus could mutate further but it sounds like the authorities have it under control.

I think events like this excite most of us to a degree although we all wish it wasn't happening. I found the initial stages of the Iraq war very exciting but don't agree with it.

If you look at it historically, apparently we've been overdue a pandemic for about 5 years. Or so my Dad tells me!

A bit convenient that it has arrived at a time when Labour and Gordon Brown are at their weakest for years? I reckon its being exagerated to knock politics of the front pages for a while.

That's a joke, right? Obviously the affected countries are not conspiring to help Brown have it easier in the UK.

I feel like I've been beaten by a stick and have had a raging temperature for the past three days .... am perking up very slightly now, but don't see how it could be Swine Flu - likely just regular ....

I said it in jest, but I have no doubt Brown and his spin doctors are reveling in it.
