We once went through a long period where I live, of ladies 'smalls' disappearing off the clothslines.........we nicknamed the culprit 'Nicholas the knicker nicker'!

Caz, maybe you should start a new post?

So, maybe the "horny devils" I saw in Shetland were indeed Shetland sheep ... they were a sorry looking lot, have to say Very Happy  What are they good for?  Surely not eating?  Must be their fleece?

Okay - procrastinated long enough.  Today is the day ... get the lasso out, snare el doggo, plug in the electric clippers, go a few rounds, then take the rest of the day off Very Happy

Actually their meat is delicious, best I've tasted. They were originally famous for their wool but that market is a joke now. You are lucky to get 80p per fleese which doesn't even pay for the shearing! Most farmers x them with "North or South Country Cheviots" who are larger and have a better confirmation. The reason that shetlands are choosen is that they are extremely hardy for hill ground and known for their ease of lambing. They are quite gorgeous.....if you like that kind of thing Little tongue man

Interesting info LL.

A couple of Texas friends keep a small herd of goats purely for eating - they BBQ them (Texas style) and I agree it is the best BBQ'd meat ever - apart from Quail maybe which is also good.

This is maybe a little large for the average UK backyard ... Very Happy
