I was a bit annoyed yesterday when he kept referring to the English instead of the British! shocking I do like him, but that to me, was an enormous faux pas!

Who needs those piffly other nations?

I'm referred to being English at work, and whilst I am from England, I'm British.   They don't give out English passports in England. You can get Scottish passports right? Can you get Welsh ones?

England is all the 'English' need to be called. I'm Scottish/British and I can assure you, there's nothing 'piffly' about my nation if that's what you were referring to!

Do you think I'm being serious Caz?

Seems I am talking crap and you can't get a Scottish passport but you can buy a nice cover for it.

I would never think of the other home nations as piffly.  And yes, Barack made a terrible faux pas.

I can't see your face Bev and I can't hear the tone of your voice. Are you telling me you were joking? I was heartily offended yesterday after Obama repeated it several times [so it wasn't a mistake] and I would think, a great many other people would have been too.

Yes Caz and I was posting from an ipod, so not so good with smiley faces and the such (on laptop now, therefore quicker) but thought you might have got my wicked sense of humour from other posts that I have made - my bad!

Obama isn't the 1st that's done this and probably won't be the last.  I like to wind the Kiwi's up at work by saying that NZ is part of Australia, like Tasmania, isn't it?  Usually when they refer to me as a pomme or immigrant.

Yep agree that Obama needed to remember that he might have been in England but he was there visiting Britain Rolling Eyes But typical foreign mistake, even if it seems worse as he's a head of State.
However, while when describing myself to fellow Brits I say I'm Scottish, I'm proud to be British and yeah, you don't get English, Scottish or Welsh passports, you get British!
