It;s oxford and Cambridge rules. You have to live in the college you are attached to and therefore, have to sit at meal times and pay for them as part of your accomodation. The food there is great. I am sure laura can send u a copy of the menus. Other unis tend to suck for food. It;s just canteens, baguettes and soup etc.
Other universities usually have limited hall space, and not all of them are catered anyway. Most students will rent a flat after their first year at university, and find somewhere in town with friends, which means looking after urself.

You don't have to go to all meals - mines on a pay as you go basis. But I tend to go because a) its cheap b) its bloody good food c)I get to see my friends d)I like wearing my gown!!

Its fairly formal - three course meals, all served, latin grace, gowns and high table

ahhhhh. its too bad that im too lazy to get into oxford... or anyplace decent for that matter... i procrastinate too much. its why even though i am smart my grades are so bad.

Its not crap
We have the hats, but we cant wear them till we graduate. Plus we dont have to wear the sub-fusc (white and black) all the time - we just wear gowns over our normal clothes....
