The Movies

I am a big fan of Quentin Tarantino but have yet to see 'Django Unchained'. I guess I am a bit reluctant about the subject matter.

Whoever thought Tom Cruise would make a good 'Jack Reacher' wants shooting...  Frown

I loved it!

Just saw Gangster Squad and it was fine, could be a bit better, but they had a very good villain.

Went to see The Impossible tonight, it was based on one family's true story of the boxing day tsunami, very sad as expected. Naomi Watts in particular was great in it. Powerful scenes of when tsunami hits.

So, judging by the latest reviews the general overall concensus is that the new Die Hard movie sucks donkey balls #dissapointed

Saw "Django".....hmmmm, Tarentino's love of cartoon violence seemed at odds with the terrible real violence inflicted on the black people. Exploitative even? Huge holes in plot too.
Acting terrific though.

Tis true.. sat through the whole Die-Abolical thing, and was constantly annoyingly awoken from my nap by loud explosions and stuff.

Trouble With The Curve
Clint Eastwood was..Clint Eastwood. Expected a bit more from Amy Adams. John Goodman was his usual likeable self, and Justin Timberlake was dire.

Here Comes The Boom
Dearie me. Wonder what Clydey thinks of this. Flicked over channel halfway thru to watch Ruby Sparks, which was intriguing.

Just watched Skyfall again last night my son got the DVD. Still think it's the best Bond ever so action packed and Daniel Craig is a great Bond though Sean Connery was still the best Bond of them all.

This weekend, saw Identity Thief. Silly movie. but what's sillier is that I was at the wrong movie. Wanted to see Melissa McCarthy's new one with Sandra Bullock, but apparently it's not out yet. Saw Melissa Mc was in this one, paid the tickets and realised 2 mins in it was the wrong one. Very Happy

Also saw Silver Linings Playbook. Loved, loved, loved it!

And now I've seen it.

I found the first half of the movie to be fairly boring which is a problem as it's the length of a movie in itself. But the second half was enjoyable.

Agree it's too long, I think many movies could be trimmed.
Really enjoyed the cast list at the end, the acting was another of the highs for me.

My favourite being Hugo Weaving - so good at playing the bad guy.

Ah, "Elrond" was absolutely terrific, I agree. Completely unrecognisable as "Nurse Noaks." But what a revelation was Jim Sturgess, again did not recognise him as the dashing Hae-Joo Chang. And Hugh Grant as a flesh eating barbarian...honestly what type casting....Wink
Could go on and on....but won't. Glad u liked it a bit because I came out of the cinema on the most almighty high...and nothing to do with pop corn either. The essential ideas that truth prevails and acts of kindness transcend death and are passed down  far into the future was, I thought, quite brilliant.
