They'll get around that in some way. Was more hoping we get to see the 50th special in NZ at some point anyway!

Have you seen the trailer they released yesterday? Looks pretty good actually. Nice to see the 10th Doctor back with his original companion again.

Indeed. And with a bit of luck, those of us in the third world might even be able to see the special some time before the 100th anniversary!

Swap you a day at the tennis in Oz for being able to watch this live? Wink

Yep seen the trailer, can't wait for it. Also going to the Symphonic Spectacular which is coming to Wellington in February.

Hehe, I'm just being sarcastic. I'll still be watching live via making the BBC online stream think I'm in the UK and also in 3D at the cinema (albeit a week later for the cinema as I was too slow to book any earlier sessions). Just a shame that in the first country outside the UK ever to screen Dr Who 50 years ago, we are the only country not to be able to turn on our TV and watch it live legally.

Very Happy

What have Prime got planned for the weekend of 23rd/24th then?  I keep seeing snippets advertised but since I won't be here, I'm kind of not too bothered.

Well all they have said is that it will air "within 24 hours of the live broadcast" but have still not announced what time. Most likely it will be 8.30pm (the live broadcast is happening at 8.50am our time). They have nothing else planned in the way of specials which is a shame. Not even An Adventure in Space and Time which doesn't seem to be coming here at all so will have to download that one - at least, Prime have said they have no plans to show it and UKTV have not responded to the question. UKTV have some other specials planned although there is no indication yet of what they are.

The 50th special will also screen in cinemas in 3D on the day, although in the afternoon so not live but still most likely before the TV broadcast. Unfortunately I was too slow to book and didn't realise every showing would sell out immediately (further proof of how big the following is here who want it live) so booked for an encore screening a week later so I can see it in 3D aswell.

Well they have finally bowed down to pressure and announced they are screening it at 9am, so 10 minutes behind the simulcast. Shame it can't be quite live, but apparently they didn't even ask for an exemption to show it before 9 even though it would only have been 10 minutes. Still great to be able to legally watch it at the same time it's happening, albeit a few minutes behind. And better than 2 or 3 weeks later like the normal series usually is.

Has anyone just watched the 'Adventures in Space and Time' documentary about the creation of Dr Who. Brilliant performance from David Bradley who played Hartnell. The end where he looked into the eyes of Matt Smith was pretty amazing too.

You'll love it. Although there is one bit that is historically incorrect. Smile Stunning documentary, it really is.
