Just wanted to say "Happy St Andrews Day" to all you Scots out there! Actually knew that it is St Andrews Day - didn't have to be told it!

=D> Well done Bev! How are the moving arrangements going for NZ? Hi Elly Funny you should ask - had a man come to see me today about shipping all our worldly belongings (mostly kids stuff!) out there. Looks like January move a definate - just need to confirm date with buyer/solicitor. Things are a bit manic so don't get much time to check out website (although I did manage to see that you had a chat with a nice young man at the weekend! ) Think I need a weekly review of what's going on with everyone/everywhere. Doesn't help with Christmas being just round the corner Don't get me wrong, I luurve Christmas (christmas emoticons please Mark!) but don't know whether I'm coming or going sometimes Thanks for asking though.

I can imagine how stressed you must be. It's bad enough having to think about Christmas without a move abroad. I think I will need to curb my time spent on MW too! Good luck with everything and keep us posted.

Hi Amy
My hubby's going out tomorrow to Auckland for two weeks for interviews/look round. He's going to go up to Kerikeri and down to Wanganui whilst there which are both on North Island. He may visit South Island as there's a couple of companies interested in him there. If I had a choice, then I'd rather be on the North Island but it all depends on where he gets a job. We have permanent residence visas so can settle anywhere.

I've never had haggis. We don't really get it in London.. and i usually eat pretty much the same stuff - nothing new. Most extreme was fryed snails in France.. as good as it gets.

Is St. Andrews day anymore important than St. George's day or are they basically the same. Do Scottish people put more or less importance on it than the English do to St George. To be honest, I don't even know when St George's day is, sometime in April I think.

Does anyone else like it? I tried haggis in scotland when i was 10. At the time being very gullible, my step-dad said to me to try it and that it was a small three legged animal. and that it was haggis hunting season! so i tried it! i only found what it really is a few months ago #-o if i knew that i don't think i would of!!

i believe its april 23 josh - also the day that shakespeare was born and died!!
in wales theres a fairly big emphasis on st davids day (march 1st) in schools - everyone has eisteddfods and competitions and the like and the younger ones dress up in welsh costume and theres welsh cakes and dancing and stuff. generally though the eisteddfod culture with which st davids day has become associated actually continues throughout the year....
edit: oops my bad, 21st then....
edit 2: just google it and i am actually right - it is the 23rd.....mwa ha ha ha
