Top 10 Films of the Decade

Quote

Adding to all the typical end of decade talk, what would be your top 10 films of the decade?

In no particular order off the top of my head:

The Prestige
The Dark Knight
Meet the Parents
Meet the Fockers
Slumdog Millionaire
Catch Me If You Can
The Terminal
Man On Fire
Lord of the Rings trilogy (treating the trilogy as one here since you cannot watch 1 without the others)
Ocean's Eleven

Pretty hard to narrow it down to 10 so no doubt I've missed some and there will be many disagreements with everyone's lists. Smile

And for a bit of fun, which would you choose as your top 1? If I had to say 1 then I think The Prestige for me.

Not as tough as the music one but still one to ponder Think

Again, in no particular order

LOTR Trilogy
Gladiator (had to check the date on that one)
Walk the Line
POTC Trilogy
SITC (always good for a girls night in yes and a glass of wine or should that be Manhattans partyman )
Ocean's Eleven
Road to Perdition
Calendar Girls
Cinderalla Man
Chicken Run

A bit eclectic but it's what came to mind.

Hard to pick one outright - would be between Gladiator and Walk the Line I think. Think

I prefer if you had asked what our film of the decade was, asking for top-10 is tricky.

I can't be bothered doing research so I'll just say, in my top-10 would be:

Gladiator
Equilibrium
The Dark Knight
Man On Fire

And what's your top one then?

My favourite film of all time is Equilibrium and yet I can admit the storyline was not particularly impressive, I just ended up loving it. The score in a film is very important to my enjoyment and I think it was very good in that film, very appropriate to the scenes you were watching.

I was wondering that.

We could also go off on lots of tangents for top this and that of the decade yes

Agree with The Dark Knight and of course the LOTR trilogy.

I'd also add Brokeback Mountain and the Assassination of Jesse James.
Both brilliant films, the latter in particular being a masterpiece.

Cheeky nomination for Monsters Inc too! lol

Everybodys saying Monsters Inc! I don't think I've actually ever seen the end of that film, I think I may have been too scared/upset....

Oooo a difficult one....hmmm.....in no particular order...making me realise just how few good films i've seen in the last 10 years....must go to the cinema more....

1. LOTR
2. HPs 3 and 6 (yes, sorry)
3. Brokeback Mountain
4. Dreamgirls / Hairspray (because I love a cheesy musical)
5. Gladiator
6. Les Choristes
7. Billy Elliot
8. The Queen (which I hated the first time I saw it)
9. Spirited Away
10. Gosford Park

I also loved Love Actually, Twilight, Mamma Mia, Calendar Girls and 8 Mile....but I'm not sure I'd class them as movies of the decade...Oh and Brideshead Revisited was wonderful....but I'd need to see it again to be sure.

And for epic TV adaptions - the BBC's North and South. A classic.

Really? Thought it was just a silly one just from Joe.

I don't think I've actually ever seen the end of that film, I think I may have been too scared/upset....
Meh, don't think you missed out much, it was a mediocre animation film. Smile
