War Stories

Quote

I've been nudged into starting this thread based on my experience in Vietnam. However as war is pracically universal the ideas are readily transferable from person to person, country to country, and war to war. So I guess feel free to put what ever slant you want to your contributions....if any. Don't have much time at the moment to discuss in detail but will follow up with continuing updates to "my" particular story as I remember more items. Starting to think of this subject has made me realize how much I have actually forgotten or suppressed.

I can't even begin to imagine what it must be like to be in a war time situation, far less be a soldier.  There must be so many who suffer from the harrowing effects.

He most certainly does not have to divulge his real name.  What's the matter with you ...  whip

You better behave ... Buhweet was a USM and they eat people like you for breakfast ... pray lol

It must be really hard to kill another person, even if they are your enemy.  It must go against the human being in you.  I know people have to do it, but it must leave you with big 'stuff'...

Actually, he doesn't have to have a reason - good or otherwise.    Smile

Daisy gets a bit prickly about saying anything about real lives on MW- in case you couldn't tell Smile

We have even started the stories yet!!! First name do for you? Or last? There is no reason not to, but I thought the whole idea of pseudos was to have a bit of cover and avoid unpleasentries of being politically "Incorrect" at times? If you were really up to it, you could find it.
Couldn't sleep last night thinking on this subject. I hope to sit down tomorrow and put a few details together.

This is the kind of thing I am hoping to address. Simple answer is yes. Hence, the repression of stuff. But I hope you will get, from my particular history, how it evolved that one can do this......and as I said everyone's story is different. Ask anyone who has been in a combat situation, and they will tell you; it is something which is hard to explain to someone has not experienced it but not necessary to explain to someone who has! I thought (only after the event), if you liked the experience, you are crazy!  But there are people who like it.
