Re the Air Force - I've heard one or two war stories in that connection i.e. how they always set up the Club and the PX before they get down to anything really serious lol

It's the Post Exchange. The Navy calls it the NEX (Navy Exchange) , the Army calls it the BX (Base Exchange). It is where you can buy anything from a pack of needles to an automobile. The Commissary is different - that's where you buy food. The Air Force always have great Clubs - but the Navy Chiefs Clubs are at least as good, if not better.

Boot camp photos are NOT complementary!!!! I will decide to post after seeing them... it's been so long I don't really remember what I looked like back then.
Air force lived in real, two storied barracks, Marines lived in these wooden floored tent things with wooden frames. We used to laugh at how much trouble it was for them to run out when there was a rocket attack....which was nealry every night!!!! The VC would lob in a few rockets and watch how much time it took for them to run to the bunkers!! Next time, they would lob in a couple to make them clear the barracks, then, just as they were almost to the bunker they got hit with the real stuff!! The Air "Farce" did have the best PXs and clubs!!! Marines were usually banned from their clubs on an "evolutionary" basis. They didn't want to stink up the place! The AF PX is where I got my "killer" sterio system!! It would literally part your hair on half volumn!!! Ahhhh!!!! the good old days of Rock and Roll!!!
