What's your song of the decade?

^ I know you like it Elly, but that is one of Muse's ordinary, ordinary songs. Their earlier stuff is absolutely superb in comparison.

A song that sums up my teenage years would be something like Mr Brightside, gar, so overplayed.  Rolling Eyes

My bands for the 00s would be - Arcade Fire, Muse, The Strokes, Radiohead, Interpol.

Agree.   Mr. Brightside is very hard to ignore, despite how overplayed Smile  It gets you always if your in the least bit a music fan.... teenager or not.  Great song.  I'm old but I still like to listen to 'stuff'.   I like radiohead, but can't say I've listened to much of the Strokes or Interpol.....  I might recognise it without knowing the names...

Strokes are indie music at its finest, hoping to go see them this summer at Rock Ness.

Interpol are definitely less well known, but their song 'Specialist' is one of my favourite songs ever ever ever.

Not liking it too much on a first listen..... but then again, it's a bit Joy Division, and I guess it could grow......

Joy Division, you think?

Don't see it myself, but that's why music is so fantastic, it evokes something different from every single individual.

As long as Lady Gaga isn't mentioned on this thread in a serious manner, I'm happy.

Oh man! Something I managed to achieve on my 3 month world trip earlier this year was the hearing of Poker Face in every city visited! Everywhere FFS! I go into the toilet in a bar in Venice, an ice-cream shop in Ljubljana, walk along the water front market on Pag Island, reach the top of Victoria Peak in Hong Kong... what's coming out of the radio speakers every sodding time?!

Definately! Although the surge of pop has been delightful.

Also, when was Wonderwall released??

I feel that maybe everybody's idea of a good song is different, some with meaningful lyrics, others with catchy tunes.... It's so hard to nail it with just one song.... I'm sure though in some ridiculos ommision to the rules, somebody somewhere will say something my Michael Jackson.....

Haha and nooo way!! And anyway I feel that anybody from 2009 can't really be considered because they are likely to get better and go on into 2010, and if they dint have the long-gevity of a year then they can't really have been a that....

Also, and you'll probably consider me just a teenage rap fan, but Empire State of Mind by Jay-Z?? Not quite on the same thinking level as radiohead etc but a good song none the less...

Wonderwall was when I was a wee kid... mid 90s!

I think the Prodigy are worth a mention too, they've brought electropunk onto the main stage, maybe we'll be getting more of this stuff because tbh I am sick of stuff like JLS.
