Worst Holiday Destination

Where has been your worst holiday destination?

Mine will have to be Rhodes in Greece. The apartment was terrible we had a drainage problem and we couldn't go to the bathroom without standing in a pool of dirty water and the funny thing is that the manager didn't fix the problem until we left. Hated that manager ranting  because we couldn't have any privacy atall, he would just walk in without knocking even when we was getting dressed half naked the manager still walked in like nothing happened. Also they promised us a pool  we didn't know that what they meant by a pool is that it was in a different hotel up the road. There wasn't a supermarket for miles and to walk in that heat wasn't the best of things.

Trust me I was glad to be back home Very Happy

I don't think I've had a really bad holiday.  Though I went Cyprus and the villa we stayed was brilliant and the pool was great, but the estate was in the middle of nowhere and it was still building other villas so we spent most of the time at the villa (because me and my brothers couldn't drive) and had a building site view.  But, we could still see the mountains very clearly and the sea so it wasn't that bad.

I think I have actually been very lucky when it comes to holidays. None of them have ever been really terrible. Some places we have been to were a bit in the middle of nowhere, but they weren't too bad. One place however in Gran Canaria had ants in the bathroom which wasn't particularly pleasant. When I was in Lanzarote last March, it rained really heavily one night, that caused the drains on the street to overflow and the smell that came with that was BAD! no

We went to Spain once, to a huge holiday village type thing - and it was awful. Firstly all the sewage came up through the pipes into the bath - and then they wouldn't come and fix it for days  ranting  Then the microwave blew up (not our fault) and set the kitchen on fire, so we had to be moved. And then i picked up the worst ear infection from the swimming pool - which was absolutely filthy - and this resulted in me having to have an operation back in England  ranting That was an awful holiday... no

But apart from that all of our holidays have been pretty much ok  goodjob

We had our accommodation changed couple of days before we were due to fly to Lanzarote and it did look nice but was in the middle of Puerto Del Carmen on a busy road with a 10 foot drop from our balcony - not good for my kids who were 6 & 8 at the time, and I really wasn't happy about the hotel in general.  Didn't help that a guy in reception was having a heart attack as we arrived and one of my daughters walked into a lamp-post outside the hotel as we were going out for our evening meal on the first night and she managed to cut herself  just above her eye!  This was the last straw for my hubby and he complained and told the tour operator to move us or send us home on the next flight.  We got moved to a super hotel right on the beach front with an excellent kids club - hardly saw my kids the whole fortnight.  Turned out to be one of the best holidays we had!

probs just the atmosphere was different in the north. abit of a shock goin from rowdy football fans 24/7 to being completely alone in the north. loads of english people in SK at the time so was easy to get around. NK= no english people!
