'Bring back the ACES'

Reply

There is something that I could implement very easily as it's partly installed anyway. It would be Aces but you don't earn them automatically, you have to give and receive them from users.

So your aces would represent your popularity in the forum rather than your contribution value.

Guess that must be like user ratings, and reputation points etc as they call them on other forums. Don't really like them much tbh.

Funny... I was talking about the aces with someone the other day... anyway, they were crap. They didn't make any sense, and were no use to anyone. I say no!

I'm not a big fan of them either but they did make sense. It rewards you based on the weight of your contribution rather than just counting it as a post. However I don't think it is that interesting and I prefer my idea above of having it as a 'karma' system.

But then it could just end up as a popularity contest which may not necessarily be good for the ''community'' of the board...

I completely agree - that was one of my first thoughts about it so I remain unsure on the whole thing.
