Is the advertising at the bottom of the forums new, or am I just slow?

What does advertising / getting companies to advertise on here involve? Very Happy

I've recently put in the ads at the bottom like there used to be a while ago. Revenue for the past month or two has been a bit low. I need banner ad revenue to pay off the costs of the virtual server I have in Germany. Although I would like to point out that if ever I was not getting enough money to pay it off I would just use my own money but it's nice to have a website that pays its self if you get me.

If any of you find it irratating I'd appreciate your feedback.

Thats cool Mark! I'd much rather it was paying for itself than you having to shell out - you put incredible amounts into the site as it is Smile

For the decent companies it involves filling out an online application form and for the company to evaluate your website and approve/discard.

Right now I'm experimenting with a few companies.

I just noticed it today.  =D>
I actually thought it was much "cooler" than it was before. But that's because of the image addition to the usual ramble of grey text.  goodjob
And now that we know it's a financial advantage... that's great! Smile

I'm happy you guys are not finding it irratating or off putting. Putting banners into a website like this is not something I enjoy doing. But if you honestly think it's interesting that's great Smile
