Avatar size is no longer an issue.

Quote
Can some people please reduce the size of their avatars. Until we move to SMF those avatars cause the page to enlarge and then go back to normal on every page load which is quite irratating to the eyes.

1. If the image you want as your avatar is more than 100x100 pixels then just download it to your PC.

2. Load it in photo editing software (Microst Paint if you want) and resize it

3. Upload it to a free image hosting service (see a list below).

4. Once uploaded find the address of the image by following the avatar instructions (from FAQ thread) found below.

Free image hosting:
Momoshare.com RapidShare.de, YouSendIt.com, Upload2.net, zUpload.com, UltraShare.net, Rapidupload.com, iHud.com, SendMeFile.com, MooLoad.com

FAQ Avatar Instructions:
To get an avatar above your name you will need to first find an image on the Internet (please only use a small image). Once you have done this: right click the image, left click Properties, select and drag the text from the URL section and copy it. That URL will need to end with .jpg or .gif or .png to work as your avatar. Once you have copied the full URL address, go to your profile in the message board and paste that address in the 'Link to off-site Avatar' text area. Click Submit and you're done.

No Amy, yours is absolutely fine because it's around 100x100. Some people have their avatars as full size pictures which is the problem.

Yours is 300x300 so a bit bigger than recommended. You should probably attempt to do what I said in the first post.

Ah Right, I will at some point.

It appears when I'm viewing the same size as all yours. Thats why I haven't changed it before.

Yeah that is because there is a modifcation on this message board that resizes your avatars but it does this before the page has fully loaded and therefore pages flicker when loading.

Most message boards require you upload and restrict you from uploading more than a specific size so on MW you do have more freedom.

If at first you don't succeed, you fail.

It is all relying on one designer who is converting this current theme to the new system. I don't know him but he accepted the challenge and apparently is near completion but I don't think I have any influence on how quickly he does it. He has other tasks for other people as well, some of which are payed.

Yup....just about Smile

As the website becomes more popular, the hardware demands are increased therefore more money needs to be spent but you get more revenue from ads due to increase in popularity. I don't see there ever being a shortage of funding.

Hmmmm, looked in properties and it says it's 100 x 90 pixels, but it does go large before resizing.

Given my pc numptiness, do I need to change it?

(Did a Systems Restore for my last problem btw  Wink  )
