hey guys, i was wondering if anyone knew the best way to transfer files and folders from one PC to a Laptop? Is there any way i can connect the two together? Any suggestion would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hmmm... I do think there must be something for it. I always use USB Stick but it's not transfering directly.

How much do you want to transfer? (in terms of total file size)
If it's not too much, then USB is a quick an easy way to do it, via flash drives (USB sticks), or an Ipod or an external USB hardrive, depending on how much you need to transfer.
As for connecting them together, if both computers have the capabilities you could set up a LAN or a wireless network at home. We have a wireless network at home, so if for example I wanted to leech some of my Dad's music (which I must say is not often!) I can access his stuff from my laptop, as long as his is on.
So how much do you need to transfer?

Quite a lot of stuff. I want to get all my music from my old PC onto my new laptop, about 1.5 gb worth. My lap top is wireless and my pc is connected to our wireless internet router downstairs...

Yea 1.5 GB is obviously not going to fit on a memory stick so you're going to probably need a network of some sort to transfer directly. I had the same problem when i got my new computer but most of the music was on CDs anyway and i had about 10 CDRW of photos which you can just transfer one by one.  |

If both connected to wireless router, then you should be able to transfer them via wireless network.
Although 1.5gb gb of music isn't that much to transfer. Do you have an ipod or other mp3 player? Could all be done via that.

dave's idea is probably the best... you can usually get up to 100 mbps connection speed on a LAN... (if not more)

u can share folders over the network using folder sharing thingy by windows set up and ftp server on one of the servers or get a double sided usb cable and connect usb to usb and windows will think one of them is removable media i.e the laptop and u just drap it across but usb is slower than network sharing.
