i totally agree here.i always hated conforming so ididnt.it meant loads of people just ignored me but i ended up with a decent group of friends and ppl actually accepted me for who i am rather than a person i was trying to be

lol.sorry i started that mark.btw i might not be posting much this week as i am soooooo busy with work and christmas concerts and stuff.ive just realised ive been on here a week now Smile how time flies

shocking  296 posts in a week?

Blimee, I'm retired and even I couldn't manage that!!

Re the gay thing, in my schooldays it was illegal so never got mentioned. Do kids still bully lads about it? I thought we'd evolved as a society and just went "So what?" now.

I find the thought of kids being bullied still, very sad. Frown

oh definitely they still get bullied about it - 'gay' and 'gaylord' are still used as insults, sometimes unwittingly (have to be very careful to watch my tongue sometimes)
i mean by year 11 or so everyone just gets on with it, but in the lower years of high school everyone who doesn't conform is 'gay' or 'lesbo'

ranting Ahh yes.. this lesbo thing.. also a lot of crap going around school - and we're in year 10.  Eh?
I think people like to pick on others.. to make themselves feel "more normal". Absolute rubbish though.. i mean just because someone doesn't fancy a guy, doesn't mean they are a lessie.  pullhair

It was illegal to be caught in a homosexual act. That's why Oscar Wilde died at an early age. The father of one of his lovers took him to Court and he was sentenced to heavy labour. It contributed to his death, but he wrote The Ballad Of Reading Jail which has become one of his better known works.

The law was brought in in Victorian times. The only reason lesbians weren't in the same position was that Queeen Victoria didn't believe two women would ever think like that. Smile

Startling, but true.  yes
