the shout box hasnt been showing up for a few days.im on a different computer from normal so this could be the problem.

Make sure you 'allow' the shoutbox to show if the computer you are using has Norton firewall software. The next shoutbox won't need any special access with this software but for now you need to do that.

thanks.that would explain it then.my laptop whihc i normally use has mcafee but my parents computer at home which im using at the moment has norton.ru making good progress with the new software then?

Yes, but I don't want to do the changes until a theme like this messageboard is made. A designer is working on making a theme like this so I would preferebly like to wait until his finished.

New shoutbox is based on the new forum software, so soon after the conversion to that. I could do the conversion now but it woudn't look that nice and that is why I want to wait till the theme is made. If I had to put a date, I'd say Jan-Feb but I hope sooner.

disable norton security or whatever norton software you have running apart from anti-virus OR configure norton to allow the shoutbox

Norton = crap, get Grisoft AVG.

unfortunately its my parents computer so i have no say over what is on it.as ive said before i have mcafee on my laptop which i like (it was free from uni as well which is always an advantage)
