Then again, 'Top Seed' means nothing whereas Trusted Status means you can do a few extra things. So it would be good if there was some clear indication as to whether you are 'trusted.' Instead of it saying 'Top Seed,' why can't it say 'Trusted Member'? Surely that would be an automatic thing - just changes when you get to however many posts you need like the current system.

Yes that would be automatic but once we get to Top Seed we can't have any further rankings. That sucks, I personally don't want mine to change from Murraymaniac to Trusted Status.

Alex, why do you need to show off that you have "trusted status". It's an automatic privilege for having over 5000 posts. You shouldn't be looking for recognition, you should just be willing (or not) to help out when it is needed.
I agree with Mark that's it's not worth changing anything.

You have misunderstood. I don't want to show it off at all. I don't care about it in the slightest and don't use any of the privileges I apparently have (in fact I don't even know what they are other than being 'allowed' to post RTR scores which I still feel is a job for the organisers, not the competitors). What I was suggesting was some clearer indication as to whether you actually are 'trusted' just so you actually know yourself. Before the recent debate about allowing 'trusted' members to post RTR scores, I personally had never heard of trusted status and had to hunt around the forum to find out what it actually meant and how you got it. So what I was suggesting was something to inform you yourself, not anyone else, that you actually are of this status. For example say somebody wanted to post up the day's scores or do something to the calendar or whatever else a trusted member can do (what is the full list out of interest?), they may wonder "hmmmm, can I do this? Am I trusted?" A quick look in their own profile or whatever could tell them. If it can't be below your username, could it perhaps be mentioned somewhere in your profile which isn't really "showing off" to the world?

Most people who get it will know about it or realise soon enough, this is not worth worrying about.

Thing is, how will they realise soon enough if they are not told about it or venture into this thread? As I said, first I heard of it was in that debate about the RTR scores. If that never happened then I possibly still wouldn't know as I rarely, if ever, venture into this section of the forum.
How about a simple automatic email/PM that gets sent to the person when they reach 5000 posts? It could say something like "Congratulations on reaching 5000 posts. You have now achieved Trusted Status. This entitles you to.........(insert things they can do here)"
Lets the person know that they are trusted and also tells them what they are now entitled to do. Surely wouldn't take much time or hassle to set up.

Well apart from posting RTR scores, everything else is automatically added to your account. I.e. You can now edit any of the main pages of the site. This should be obvious if you view those topics with new "Modify" buttons becoming availible.
Thing is, as much as you are using yourself as an example of not noticing, you also say that you don't nor will use any of the priveleges afforded you, so I think until someone who actually comes along wanting to use them, and not knowing about them, then it's really not worth worrying about at all.

I think it will be the vast minority who reach TS and then don't actually know about it and for those who don't know about it, does it really matter? They will find out soon enough.
It's good idea to have an email sent to them when they reach that rank although I don't think that can be automatically done, I've not heard of a mod of it but I'll keep a look out.

Then again, how do you know whether you want to use them if you do not know they are available to you?
Anyway, forget about it.

Out of interest though, where should I be seeing these modify buttons?
I'm on the homepage and can't see any.

In "
Main Content
" Click on any topic in there, and you can modify the posts. These topics are linked DIRECTLY to the front page.
EDIT: I say modify, but i really mean Edit.

Alex, the email idea is good but it can't be done unless there is some sort of mod available.

I find it hard to believe there is no way to send out an automatic email when someone reaches some milestone. But then I don't know much about running forums.

It's almost certainly possible but will probably need a developer to create some sort of hack.

If we are marking the side panel with trusted status can we also do the same for non-trusted members, it would make you look dangerous and edgy
