Sabine, see below:

There you go Sabine! That give you any clues?

Okay, so whoever it was will be knowing my brother well and....thats pretty much it. Can't squeeze out another clue. Was thinking about which threads these were posted on...that might lead to somewhere or maybe he/she just chose random threads. God, this is so pissing!
I'm 10 times more desperate than Angie to know who is the hacker! pullhair

I stand by what I said. It was Sabine having a mental breakdown. lol

Lol gangsta, I actually prefer that happening because no other person would have been involved. Saves me from all the trouble of this detective thinking nonsense.

Eyebrow raise.  And your earlier post wasn't funny either.  Hacking emails can have serious consequences.

@Sabine.  I'm very sorry this has happened to you but I think some of us might have learnt a lesson from this.  I used to use my email password for everything until I came close to being hacked myself but fortunately Googlemail security got suspicious and
alerted me and so of course I had to change my password.  Now it use it strictly for my emails only.

Yeah Aileen, now I have no common password for any of my accounts. Thank God I'm not on facebook because I'm PRETTY sure I would have been hacked there too.

Unfortunately I can't remember all the threads (5 or 6 in total), but one of them was the Recipe Thread which is weird because it hasn't been used since May 2011!

Thank you.  The only one I didn't see was on the Football thread because I never go on it.

Can you be more specific?  All I'm getting is six pages of discussion threads.

You need to copy and paste the link because it seems to have not highlighted the whole link.

I'll try 'search' first.

EDIT - So back in August 2006.  I bet that caused a bit of furore at the time, although the thread only runs for three pages.

It wasn't. That incident was simply the DNS provider being DDoS'd which has nothing to do with MurraysWorld itself. You can blame Andrew for that misleading thread title. Smile

The closest we've ever got to being hacked was some automated bot placing code into the forum to cause a pop-up that would try to mislead you into downloading dodgy software. As far as I'm aware, no one was fooled.

Mark, sorry if I come across as absolutely dumb here, but in the interests of "better safe than sorry",with this new "heartbleed" thing, just thought I'd ask, should we be changing our MW password?

Also, don't know if you saw,but when I was on twitter last night,a whole string of notifications from MW came up on my timeline, like they normally do when there's a new article-but these were a whole bunch together,in a different language, and it didn't look like they were linking back to this site at all (though I'm not sure about that,as I didn't click on the links).Don't know what that's about, but thought you'd like to know Shrug

Heartbleed is not an issue for us as we are using a version of OpenSSL unaffected by the flaw. However, considering the huge number of websites possibly affected, it might be sensible to reset your passwords anyway.

Thanks for letting me know about Twitter. Someone did hijack it but I have now restored the account. I'm not sure how they did it but I do know that it has a unique password that is shared with staff so it is naturally more vulnerable.
