I think Robbie is talking about keeping it to the forum rather than the main site.

Ah, I see.

I suppose the issue is having it clearly showing on the homepage like most websites do... if I avoid that then it might be alright.
It certainly wouldn't put me off if it was a website I really wanted to join.  All that's important is that it's made perfectly clear that contributions are voluntary and that people need only give what they can afford.  I realise though that the wording of this could be a bit tricky.

I'm not sure I'm following, Aileen.  Of course nobody is forcing you to give - but my direct debits do!
But direct debits can be cancelled, so I'm not following what you're saying. Smile

That would be better, if you can find a way of doing it so that newbies, for example, don't feel that it's something they have to take into consideration immediately after they've joined.

I now what you mean about the wording, you can either sound too needy or extremely arrogant and demanding about it?

But with voluntary payments you're not tied into anything and no need to cancel - I think that was my point.

I agree with Aileen we oldies are on a fixed income I would like to contribute but not on a direct debit. I would give voluntarily when I could afford it.

^ I'm sure it'll get sorted in a way that makes it easy to give what you can afford.

I definitely think you should accept donations.

Robbie has a Frank Abagnale Jr machine at his disposal, so you're in there.

For those wondering what's going on with the work on the server. It has been assigned low priority so is generally ongoing when more important clients are not needing attention.

Turns out that's a good thing as I'm very short on money this month.
