If your new avatar is not showing, it is most likely due to your browser caching the old version temporarily. You can either wait for it to update naturally or speed up the process by following steps 3 & 4 below.

Follow these steps when updating your avatar:

1. Make sure the source image is less than 1MB in file size.

2. Upload the image as an avatar on your Profile.

3. Wait for at least 2 hours (duration of server's cache cycle).

4. Clear your browser's cache.*

* This can often be done by simply pressing CTRL+F5 on a web page that has your avatar showing.

Your new avatar should now be showing. If it is not, please report the issue on this thread.

Your issue is an unusual one and not relating to cache. Will look into it later today.

ChrisMac: I've sorted your one out now. I don't actually know why your account refused to upload avatars but at least I know how to fix it in future.

Mark, my avatar appears to have reverted back to my old one confused

Just changed it again on my work computer and did the control F5 thingy and it's showing atm Very Happy

After talking with CloudFlare yesterday, I discovered there was a cache conflict between the server and CloudFlare which would have recently caused avatars to update much slower than the 2 hour cycle mentioned above.

So I apologise to those people who did follow the instructions above and still had problems. A fix has now been put in place. I have tested this myself and can confirm the 2 hour cycle is working again.

Markie.. when you get a mo' (because I know it's late Brit time for you) can you pls tell me why my new avatar pic won't show?
It's under 25KB. It was originally a png, and I saved it in my pictures file as a png. When I tried to change my avatar and it didn't work, I converted it to a jpeg and tried again. When that didn't work I went back to the png.

I've done the whole waiting 2 hours, and Cntrl F5 thing.

What am I doing wrong?

There is no hurry for this. I don't mind my avatar as a little red cross for a while. Very Happy

Try uploading the JPG one more time? I just messed around with your account and it seems to be better.
