Jamie is now GB doubles number 5. He has fallen down to 135 behind Skupski, Fleming and Auckland.

At least now he's not going to be dropping any more points until mid October.

What ranking do you have to be to enter the main draw of the UO? Is he going to make it?..

For Jamie to get in he'll have to enter with someone from the top 50 (in singles or doubles) so pairing up with Andy play would be Jamie's best, if not only, option.

Hmm, what would their chances be if they did that do you think?

They could win a match or two. Really depends on the draw though.

I think that could be a good move. The two or three doubles matches will give Andy good match practise and hone his volley skills. As long as they don't play more than 3 doubles matches then I think it would be a good move for both of them, especially for Jamie to earn precious ranking points.

Yes but it is now the hard court season so Andys need for volleying skills is slightly less now

That is true. However, when I play Grand Slam Tennis on the Wii, I find I am able to win the points much faster whan I come to the net and put the volleys away (against the computer and against on line human opponents). The extra court speed takes away the time for the baseline player to run and reach the ball after a volley. Even if they do just reach the first volley, the second or third volley will kill the point quite rapidly with proper placement. Now, it is open to debate as to how close to reality this is . Maybe this is an area where Andy can improve to earn easy points and conserve his energy ?

It's currently 165 but on ranking points earned this year he's earned more than Jamie M.

I knew you would know Allan! No I was just wondering for the US Open that's all I guess he's going to have to ask his brother very nicely to play with him- that or ask on of the Bryans... Hopefully Liezel will still want him though!
