Hi All,

Andy was superb yesterday, just fabulous.

I had the feeling that Querrey thought he could out-hit Andy, or at least out serve him, but it struck me as obvious that sooner or later Andy would be on to Querrey's serve, and he was. In the rallies Andy just looked like the better player, and for me he most definitely was.

Well done Champ. clap

Thanks for the report. I couldn't watch the match but it sounds enjoyable and unstressful. More of the same would be nice.

Welcome Dutch, and other newbies!

It was my birthday yesterday, and luckily I had a day off. Thanks to somebody on MW who posted where to find the Olympic final (which I have been searching since the 5th August), I sat down with a nice cup of tea, knowing what would come. It is so much more relaxing, yet of course not that exciting. The pictures still made me happy and the fact that you grow older forget for a while. In the evening I went eating out, and on returning I saw Andy leading 6-2 3-1. So a nice easy win rounded up a sunny day for me. Hope for more to come today. Bth, I'm glad to see all the fans eager to have his autograph. Months ago people who are only superficially interested in sports/tennis didn't even know his name. The times they are a'changing. Still not sure if they only want to jump on the bandwagon, just as they did with Roger. But certainly, Andy enjoys more being cheered on than to be ignored or blamed. I have never really believed that it doesn't bother him to face all the negative stuff that is sometimes around in the public.

Welcome Dutch [assuming you're happy with that name!].  Don't worry about your English - I can assure you the English of some British members of MW can leave something to be desired at times!  It's the commitment that counts here.  And heartening to know that Andy has many fans in the Netherlands.
Thanks for the link to the story about what Nole said.  While I can be critical of Nole at times he is very gracious towards his rivals and is demonstrating he is a real friend of Andy's.  He's absolutely right that Andy is part of a big four and not an also ran behind a big three and he really proved that with his gold medal.  I'm hoping that the new big (friendly) rivalry will be Andy v Nole.

i agree with that , what do you all think about that all ?
Welcome to MW. Smile  I think Nole is absolutely right.  Andy should never have been excluded from the Big Four in the first place, but with his gold medal win he deserves that status more than ever.

Thanks for the report MH.  Missed the match but good to get a feel of it.  Very glad to know that the knee wasn't a problem.

Welcome Big Dutch fan of Andy. Mind if I call you Dutch? Smile

Novak and Andy are clearly very good friends. It's nice to see. I found this clip of them both during that doubles match they played in IW (or was it Miami?) last year.. Anyone want to guess what they're chatting about?

Hey Elly, don't think we didn't notice your absence after that Olympics final. I'm sure you made a promise about something or other if Andy won... Whistle lol

I'm a huge fan, but I didn't always believe he could fulfill his potential.  However, watching him making Federer look very ordinary to win Gold was the best!  If anyone deserves to win a Slam, it is Andy - so much respect for the guy.  He has found a way, and when he is in that zone, he is unbeatable.  I want to see more!  Very Happy
