That's not what they were saying on Sky the other day though I do have a vague memory of that too Alis.

Indeed, what a birthday present that would be!

I'd forgotten about all the delayed finals the USO has had over recent years. Wasn't last year the third year in a row it was delayed until the Monday or something?

I thought that, after all the furore last year, they had decided to go to a Monday final come what may - have I misunderstood that?

it's certainly happened 2-3 times recently.   You'd think with all the money they have they might invest in a roof.

Ah, but we don't want one of those Ruthie, especially if it's a Murray/Federer final. My nerves wouldn't take the strain lol.

Seriously though, it did strike me as ironic last year, with all the rain they had to deal with at the USO. The rain at Wimbledon used to be a big talking point, and a fuss was made until they put a roof on Centre Court. However, in the North American stretch they don't even have court covers. It strikes me as very bizarre.

Final should be 9th but if bad weather yet again it could be 10th. Now if he won it on your birthday tj sweeter still I think?

Thanks Masaka - but some sloppy writing as it said Andy was beaten in early rounds of Toronto when in fact he withdrew.

It seems to me that after playing so well against Querrey and then coming out the next day a different player there had to be an  underlying cause.  Perhaps we will never know what but hopefully if this is the case he recovers before USO.  With Mr Lendl's help I am sure he will.

Ugh.  I will be snoring my head off when the semis come.  Sleep is like my life ok.

Is the final on Sept 9th? Oh sweet, I move out on the 10th. Perfect.

I also hope it's soon. I may not be alive to enjoy otherwise

Well, not sure about you, but I'm hoping to be alive and well on September 9th. That's the day before my birthday, so all I've asked for is a major win for Andy. Isn't that nice of me lol.

I never worry about Andy's matches outside of the Slams, bar against other players in the top 8.

In the Slams I tend to get nervous about every opponent (well, those that are top 50 anyway), because there's so much more on the line and most of those guys are capable of an upset on their day.

No, that's a point lol. I want to be alive and well to celebrate that one, and I will be!

OSS how does you theory deal with the way he dispatched Querrey?  confused  That said I'm sure Andy has had to do some adjusting after the extraordinary levels of support he received during the Olympics particularly in the final.

I had an awful thought over the weekend.  Usually I get v nervous before Andy's matches regardless of how easy they look on paper.  And I was nervous before the Querry match even though I couldn't watch it.  But I was not at all nervous before the Chardy match and look what happened. So you can blame me folks.  Clearly I need to hang on to those nerves however uncomfortable they make me feel  w00t

The spooky thing about that is that I thought exactly the same lol. I was really anxious about the Querrey match, not concerned about Chardy, was convinced Andy would get through all right.....It's as bad as singing 'You're not winning anymore' to Federer during the Wimbledon final, which I did when Andy took the first set. During the Olympic final I wouldn't accept Andy was winning until he did lol.

I think I need the nerves. They obviously bode well for Andy lol.

Following on from my earlier posts, I realise the reason for Andy's disappointing match against Chardy is that he did not have the Wimbledon Gold medal support with him. The applause for Andy at Cincinnati was at best respectful, but at worst almost silent.

Andy needs to have the Wimbly support wherever he goes. Could be costly, but effective.
