Nice report!

Murray is looking completely second rate these days. His forehand is a total liability and the less said about his serve the better. Not sure what the problem is - his game seems to have taken a massive backwards step since Wimbledon.
Serve was not bad. He evened out aces with double faults as I remember. If he could zero in on the first serve.......however, his second serve is terrible. When he pushes it, here comes the double faults...

Burnout, hopefully.

Reads a lot like what people are saying about Nadal at the moment but as he's better Indoor player than Nadal it isn't anywhere near as pronounced until he meets someone playing at a very high level.

Why do you say Murray should shut his mouth?  He hasn't, to my knowledge, said anything inflammatory or derogatory re Fed?
Well said, Elly, Andy is almost reverent about Fed - never fails to call him the greatest ever and I have never heard him state he has ever had to do anything but work extremely hard at his best to beat him.

Rubbish!! Novak has spent half this year on a dip in his game, but that hasn't stopped him being in top form now - why should it be any different with Andy! I often agree with you boogers but this time you are just full of pessimistic nonsense, sorry!

I can't get the link to work but there is a good article in the Times re the Murray/Fed match - objective, different, concerning the gammes of both players.

Murray was absolutely outclassed by a better player who currently has 15 majors to Andy's 0.

Murray should shut his mouth, as Fed finally took him seriously and is now beating him everytime.

Sadly, Murray got WHUPPED in the 2nd and 3rd sets but says "I didn't play well."

Win a major Murray. You've accomplished nothing, and you probably will never win a major.

Well, I said very much the same thing about Djokovic earlier this year. I'm not saying Murray won't fix whatever is the root cause of his problems, but that right now he is looking decidedly ragged. I'm sure he'll be back to his best, hopefully quicker than Djokovic was.

Must say - I was there watching Novak today and he fell apart in the second set much the way Andy did last night.   Once his serve was broken his body language was awful and he looked shattered.   It happens to them all from time to time

It does.... that's what we all tend to forget, myself included.

Well just back from the O2 (Transport For London are a disgrace, something about piss-ups in breweries and not being able to organise them comes to mind).

Great stadium, great atmosphere, ok match, shite result. Andy was looking good in that first set but Federer inevitably came back into it and Murray faded for some reason. The last set was pathetic. Couldn't hit a first serve and could barely get the ball over the net. Regulation backhands were dumped into the net, forehands that were always in earlier were going wide. Not sure what was up with him but it was crap by the end.
Same old problems: first serve percentage, second serve power/placement. Some good aggression at times but that turned into errors by the end of the match.

Still think Murray is a cert to go through as he should beat Verdasco and Federer should beat Del P - not sure what happens if he doesn't beat Nando though!

Also not sure I agree with the part of the report about the mainly pro-Murray crowd. There were lots of Murray backers in there but an awful lot of Fedtards too and it was the Frauderer who got the biggest cheers whenever things went his way. Sickened me. Shanky is the Manchester United of tennis - those without much knowledge jump on the bandwagon for the glory and piss everyone else off (I'm a Man U fan too, btw, but I'd imagine it's how other football fans feel! lol).

Back there tomorrow night for Nadal v Donkey, should be interesting but the main attraction was of course tonight.

I see Hitler has been up to his old tricks on other threads! lol

Night all.

Good report there Joe.  I'm surprised about the transport though - I'm always singing the praises of UK transport compared to here, but I guess that there's always room for improvement.

I'm sure that I read somewhere that Andy said that he was running on adrenalin in the first set, and was just zapped of energy in the 2nd and 3rd sets.

At least he admits he was pants and I particularly liked his comment that anyone on the other side of the net would have looked good playing him Whistle

And what a match you would have seen with Davy and Nadal. blink

It's the closing at midnight on a weekend thing that gets me - loads of people still out, they'd make a killing on it by having it open all night but instead everyone is forced to head home and the whole city becomes a carve up. At least Berlin metro runs 24 hours! lol

Bev: Davy was awesome last night, good to see as I like the guy - he gets a rough ride from some for his 'lack of charisma' but he's only there to play tennis and in the interviews I've seen he always seems a nice guy with a sense of humour. First set wasn't much of a contest but the second was good with a great tiebreak. Some breathtaking points from the two of them, Davy especially, in that second set.

I'd recommend to everyone that they get to the O2 for some of the action next year, it's a brilliant venue and very well staged.

Your thoughts regarding Davydenko echo my own Joe, he is a quiet and charming guy I think, constantly in the top ten but he seems to be on top form just now. His match against Soderlng should be super watching.

Weren't a couple of the points something like 2/3 minutes.  The guy (I think it was a guy) on the beeb did excellent coverage.

Can't wait for my turn to see some live tennis yes

It should definitely stay open a little bit longer... i went on monday and had to miss the end of the match to ensure i could get the last tubes. We ended up driving on tuesday to guaruntee we wouldn't miss the end of murray - federer. Even 30 mins to an hour later would make such a difference for travelling.
