Good report, Lorna. Just one small comment. Fish was serving for the second set NOT to win the match

Barry Cowan - intellectual mind reader and worshipper of the great Fed - get lost and do us all a favour; disappear from our tv screens.

Once I didn't think too badly of Barry Cowan but now..... Andy is very honest when he talks in his post match interviews. Whether he beats Novak or or not - he played very well yesterday. I didn't think he was going to win and had a happy surprise - I doubt he will win today somehow but hope he proves me wrong. Well written report Lorna.

yay yay kicking kicking   Well Done Andy!!! Great 1st set, 2nd set the heat caught up with him as he has been on early matches all week and never got to play on center court were Andy said it was slower than the other court he has been playing on all week and that was already a disadvantage but he came through and soooooooo happy he beat Fish, out of all the opponents Fish is the one I wanted so much for Andy to beat. Of course they played on center court as they new Fish would fillet being an American.

Yes......Fish is the one that had me a bit worried too! I felt if Andy beat Fish, he'd have a great chance of beating Djoko too! Fingers crossed eh!

I do hope the crowd will get behind Andy for the final! He didn't have many of his own supporters there yesterday and it showed, but he's not playing an American today!

Caz, don't think they like Nole much, remember that scrap with Roddick? Also during Boggle match, far more of the crowd were supporting Andy.

I think the Americans like Andy and yes Nole hasn't had a happy history with them so provided there aren't masses of Serbs  (like in AO) I think the crowd will be more inclined to support Andy.
I liked the way Andy made clear he wasn't using the conditions as an excuse for his play in the 2nd set and said that it showed he needed more tough matches.  So perhaps it would suit him if today's match against Nole is a tough one, with Andy the victor of course.  Just don't want him picking up any real injuries  before USO or exhausting himself like he did last year.

Yes I agree Ruthie! I already said on another thread that I hope it's not the new diet that's making him tired, as Andy himself said he hadn't felt so tired during a match for a long time! If it is, how will he cope with the 5 setters? I'd rather he have a good plate of pasta the night before, as the marathon runners do! Cutting out all the things he has, seemsa bit drastic. Maybe if he'd done it over a period of time, it would be better! The body needs time to adapt to change!

That is a bit worrying Caz.  But surely his nutritionist would have known that and weaned him off gently and ensured he has enough of the right food to provide him with energy?  Sounds the diet might need some tweaking, quick, if that is the cause.  Yet he had been saying he was feeling more energetic and fresh because of it.  Do hope it's not a virus about to strike.  Oh just looking on the bright side!  w00t

Well, we don't know when he started this diet, [well I don't anyway], but to me, he hasn't seemed to have had much energy the last two weeks! I don't think it can 'all' be down to heat as he often has to do that, but we just have to hope ........
