Succint, Iain - and brave - do you reckon his lawyers read this board???

I particularly dislike the way so much influence is concentrated in one man. Information is fundamental to the way we live our lives, and he controls access to so much of it through the papers he owns, and Sky TV. I think the internet is a great thing because it dilutes the influence of all the big media players.

If you are interested there's a live interview available to download from the bbc

http://www.bbc.co.uk/fivelive/listen/downloadtrial.shtml

Not sure if I posted that right. It's quite interesting and although he has denied in the past he has editorial control over the papers, he does say in that interview that if Tony Blair wants to know what he thinks, he can read the paper...revealing.

Also the way, it's accepted that whoever his papers support will win the next election, so politicians court him instead of representing their constituents. He's obviously reserving judgement right now on David Cameron, but there's a good deal of interest in what Murdoch thinks. Unhealthy for a democracy in itself I think.

Like I said, don't get me started.... Wink
