That was ridiculous to be fair.

Murray does indeed have the edge on his BH, return and speed, but Fed's forehand is worth about 5 ticks when it's on form.

I was lying in bed last night and I also came to a similar conclusion.  I would have to give Roger 3 ticks for his incredible forehand when it is firing (13 consecutive games against Davydenko) and 3 ticks for the intangibles (15 GS - confidence + experience).  This ties them both at 14 ticks each !

Federer in straight sets...not yet for Murray! Federer is more experienced and Murray will win many Grand Slams in the future no doubt...Murray for Wimbledon 2010!

Put it this way, I got up this morning expecting to have to write a loss report. I did think Murray would take at least one set though.

Brad Gilbert is a motor mouth who does not stop to think and even offers incorrect analogies. Federer was a month shy of his 22nd birthday when he won his first slam (Wimbledon) whereas Murray is 3 1/2 months shy of 23 and just lost the AO. To make a case that age is when players get to win  shows how shallow his analysis is - add to that he gets his facts wrong

Brad Gilbert in my opinion is right. Had Murray played with the confidence and aggression he displayed in the last 3 sets of the Cilic match, he would have dismantled Fed. He just stayed behind the base line waiting for the ball to come to him. He could have rattled Fed in the early stages but chose to trade stroke for stroke...I would loved to have seen Andy use the first set to be aggressive, coming in to the net, mixing it up and keeping Fed off balance. I think the outcome would have been very different. Come on Andy!!

I agree that Gilbert was right assuming he was referring to the Murray that beat Nadal earlier in the tournament.

Welcome to MW btw wave
