The disadvantage andy's had is that he's been 'discovered' too early on in his career. There's nothing he can do about that now. I just wish for his sake he'd have had, even just one more year, to himself and not in the public eye.

Mmmm, I agree - taken out of context his comments are pretty damning. I dont think he was actually blaming the press, but they have blown it a bit out of proportion.
Must be tough having to be so aware of what you're saying all the time at the age of 18.

The press are taking advantage out of the fact that very few readers will have actually listened to the press conferance in full. I was reading the back of the Evening Standard last night and I coudn't believe when it said, "Murray rages at the media"

Yet if any of the readers had listened to the press conferance, they would of known that was completly wrong.

yeah.if ppl listen to the audio of the conference then hes mostly just answering whats being asked of him.however hes got to learn that whatever he says will be taken out of context and discussed everywhere so he has to think a wee bit about what he says (although he shouldnt think to much, otherwise he wont be the same person[not that i mean he doesnt think, but that he doesnt mind saying what he thinks{almost managed to use every type of bracket at once}])

It must be annoying having a lot of what you say taken out of context but like you said, it would be great if that doesn't deter him from speaking his mind.

In an ideal world he would be able just to ignore what the press say and be himself but I assume that's nearly impossible to do.

Same with the booing he supposedly got for saying they played like women, this didn't really happen according to invisibleman who was there.

I didn't think Andy was blaming the media for his loss as some have reported - I think he was merely saying that it has to be accepted that he won't win every match he plays - which is perhaps not the expectation of some parts of the media.

I'm sure that Andy is blaming only himself  - not for losing - but for not giving his best performance. And everyone will have to accept he will have bad days. Unfortunately for him, his bad days at work are played out in front of the world's eyes - no hiding in a quiet corner of the office for him. I sooo couldn't do that!

I don't think the Sydney Morning Herald article was meant to be taken too seriously. The British press can't help themselves though, can they???

hmmmm. To some extent they're only doing their job - they have to sell papers and maintain a readership through drama and sensation. Unfortunately, like you say, this sometimes leads to things being taken out of context and stories being twisted.
Have to say though, I'd much rather be able to live in a country where the press is allowed its freedom, rather than a country where its not.

Oh that's for sure, I'd rather they say a load of crap than have to be censored in some way about it. Also I do think the victim should be prepared for it and to not take any of it seriously and just accept the press will always be like that. Although some take it to heart and careers have failed because of it.

Look at Jodie from the BB house, she is the perfect example of someone who actually manages to believe most of the stuff that is said about her rather than take the intelligent view of accepting the press like to stir things up for fun even if it means lying.
