Fuzzyballs is just another 'attention seeking' twerp! I'm going to do what they like least......ignore them totally!
Or we can hoover him up and dump him in the rubbish bin, or perhaps what would be even better put him in the recycle bin and then later can do some good somewhere else!

There is a section of the media that will never like Andy, for a number of reasons.  Mainly because he is Scottish, and it is a source of major irritation to quite a number of them that they need to spend their time writing about at times anyway, a dour jock.  The other reason is I am quite sure that Andy does not like them either, which irritates them further.  There are many more reasons.  But ask yourself this, "how would they know Andy was faking it"? Is this with their considerable medical expertise, their experience of playing tennis at an elite level?  Obviously not!

Only an absolute MORON could possibly think Andy was faking it, or milking it, or whatever. Look at the pictures, he went over on his ankle, and in fact most times I have seen that happen on clay before the player has not usually been able to finish the match.  What does he have to do, post his medical scans online so people can check them.  Compared to what footballers get up to Andy's reaction is positively restrained.  Andy anyway Nadal and Nole have been known to be just as animated in the past as well.

(BTW I believe posting betfair comments elsewhere is a breach of their terms and conditions.)

Yes it's rather like all those right-wingers in the US who refuse to accept that Obama is American.

ranting    I have to say I get bloody sick of this! Time and time again when anything happens injury, sickness he gets pulled a part, by the media and so called  fans (not). Just because he is Scottish, I don't think he is dour whatsoever, he just has to be careful of the press, and if he doesn't like press who can blame him as they have been nasty to him ever since his arrival on the big stage. If he was not born North of the Border this would not be happening, I don't care what anyone says. Why cant the British people in general think!, that if they did not have Andy Murray to represent Britain in the tennis world, they would have absolutely nobody and would be a laughing stock. Those snobby stiff upper lip folk who sit in the best seats in Wimbledon, would have to watch a whole Wimbledon tournament of foreign players, there would be no point sitting there with there upper class snob look, we Brits are the elite, no you bloody well are not. You have one man only, and it's Andy Murray, Scottish though he maybe, suck it up, and be proud of what he has achieved and doing!!

I see that people here are firmly convinced that Andy is being criticized mostly because he is Scottish and I am confused because I read the UK newspapers and to me (a non-UK citizen) it looks that the UK media treats everybody the same: without much mercy.
Are the English athletes treated differently by the media? Are they not criticized or is the media more lenient with them?
Or (no offence meant)  some people from Scotland like to victimize themselves and that’s why they  believe that Andy  is criticized just because he’s Scottish ?
I am a fan of  Andy and I think he is a great tennis player but I also think that his attitude sometimes deserves to be criticized , Scottish or not (and I definitely don't care where he comes from ).

Okay cool your nationalistic socks please. Just because you're anti Britain don't project it onto Andy please.

I agree, and the media haven't in any way made Andy's injury to do with or focusing on his Scottishness- there's just some over zealous people on here who forget that this site was started by someone who is English and supports Andy Smile

Andy "Braveheart" Murray

It's not nationalistic - when you live north of the border there is a tendency for everyone to think that if it ain't english it ain't happening.  I am 100% scottish and would love nothing better than to be our own country with our own identity but am realistic in realising we are a small country and it may not be financially viable, however, I think somewhere along the line and mainly due to media pressure Andy has lost is scottish identity when he was 18/19 and just emerging on the tour he wore his sweatbands with the Saltire on them with complete pride - but he has got such a really hard time from the media that he finds it easier to use the "British" tag.  I believe they announced his nationality as L'anglais before his first match !!!  The media have with this injury brought into question again his pyschological state of mind and questioned whether he is strong enough to overcome small injuries such as these nothing to do with his nationality !!!!

^Agreed, whether he is Scottish or English or Mexican has nothing to do with the way he is playing yes He spent his teenage years training outside Britain never mind Scotland, and doesn't live in Scotland when he's not travelling the globe with the tour- so his nationality really has little effect on his life really

naughty ChrisMac,   I really must take issue with you on this point. pullhair

Two years ago, being an AVID tennis fan I applied for Wimbledon Debentures 2011-2015 CC series and I'm very happy to say I was finally successful.

However, I am NOT one of those snobby, stiff upper lip folk...............although drool  I will be sitting in THE BEST SEATS for every match at Wimbledon this year and for the next 4

Please do not pigeon-hole everyone the same in what appears to me to be your somewhat small, biased mind  doh

Please note I said "a section of the media".....and I still maintain that for a minority of the hacks Andy's scottishness is a factor which militates against him.

Reports of Murray's training session earlier seem to indicate that he wasn't moving that much, and appears to have been taking it very carefully.  It is clear he will play, but what shape he is in we will not know until the match begins.  Chela beat Falla in an epic encounter, and so what a great draw for Murray.  I am currently watching Nadal and he looks way off his best against Ljubicic.  Andy will never have a better chance at RG assuming he can play at the right level.

Was referring to the suggestion that they'd be requiring medical certificates or something like that Daisy ie the equivalent of Obama's birth certificate and how such things are whipped up by a a culture of disbelief and cynicism against someone who is not liked (or even hated in Obama's case).

I don't give a toss what a player's nationality is ... all I care about is, is he a good player !!  Nationality has nothing to do with it.
