I think the fact Andy lost the 3rd set 6-2 warrants the "dreadful" headline. I mean getting beat by the world 69 by this scoreline is pretty awful. Its not looking good for the WTF. But we said the same before Wimbledon and the US Open. In both cases he was hopeless in the tournament(s) beforehand. Maybe same again but Andy's indoor record in big events is not good.

Must have been a very hollow win for the other guy, knowing you are playing a slam winner and the olympic champion and no 0ne really turned up.(andy that is)

It's a headline the Daily Mail might use and I detest that 'paper'. We shouldn't use adjectives like dreadful about Andy , just tell it like it is and leave them to the gutter press.

I don't think any of the top guys want to put themselves at a disadvantage going into the WTF. I only see Ferrer and Tsonga going for it 100% because they probably don't think they actually have a realistic chance at the WTF.

Just listening to Petch's take on the Andy loss and he's much more philosophical about it than many on here.

So this JJ player is going to win 10 grand slams? Aye just you just sit doon pal. This is just a classic case of big serving player purple patch match. He will lose in the next round. He is nothing special.
Andy on the other hand is a legend and always will be a excellent player we all know that. you win some, you lose some. Jezz quite the moaning.
I for one am excited for the WTF and I believe Andy is a contender just right behind Nole. I may get a bit excited if I see Andy at the WTF , I may do something dangerous. I will go crazy if I see Andy, you have been warned.

I know Andy wants to go out with a bang in London but today's 3rd set was really disappointing effort wise. I would not go as far as proclaiming he didn't try but effort was at a minimum which although understandable due to the ATP's banal scheduling he should not tank.
On another note the French crowd are maybe the most self righteous, rude and petty spectators in the world today. I get the feeling they are more satisfied with something to boo rather than enjoy and respect some of the world best tennis players.
