I think we have seen THE REAL Andy Murray at these Championships.

IMO he is, quite apart from being THE MOST GIFTED PLAYER ON THE TOUR, simply "testing" himself in moments of adversity which I do believe he is bringing on himself, if not consciously , cause there are Two players on court, but almost by design.

His "Get out of Jail" play in the last two matches has been a revelation!

What player whether Rafa, Djoker or Federer can now believe that by getting a break (or even two) against him in a set that the outcome (for them) is a foregone conclusion?

I do realise that Chela, Bollelli, Berrer and Troicki are hardly, even collectively, the test that Andy will be up against in his next Match(es) but, and it is a big but, THE BIG THREE have taken note and will be very very wary of him.

Come on Andy show us MORE of what you really have. A better 1st serve % in your next matches is a must though...and use that 2nd sliced serve more often, along with your sublime Dbl. handed BH.

This is an idea and belief about Andy that i have held for a long time, he creates his own adversity, all the critics are now coming round to this theory. Its plainly obvious he thrives on these challenges he creates, although i believe they are subconciously created. Once created, it shouldn't normally happen but he just appears to settle completely and play the most amazing tennis. Put another way, he appears to play much much better attacking tennis coming from behind. I wait with baited breath for Friday.

This is what Rafa had to say about Andy his new nemesis: "I think on Friday he will have no pain any more. He'll be 100%. He's a very special player. He has a lot of talent. He does many things very well."

I for one cannot wait for this match, i have a feeling that both semifinals are going to be arguably the matches of the french open for their own reasons, and the results of these two matches will be totally unexpected  yay

And asked whether he expected Murray's ankle injury to be a factor in the semi-final, Nadal said: "I believe that Murray was able to play five‑setters lately, and I don't believe the fact that he has some pain in the ankle will limit his performance at all.

Nadal seems definately weary of the Murray threat!!

Yet another entertaining and factual report, Nigel.  But was Murray really hampered by his ankle injury?  Thanks to strapping, a cocktail of pain-relieving medication and intensive physio he was able to move and slide around the court freely, even on several occasions bending the ankle and putting his weight on it in order to return a shot, and showed no obvious signs of discomfort when pushing off that foot while serving.  If he was concerned about whether he might go over on it again, then he certainly didn't allow it to interfere with his game, and, apart from the almost obligatory 2nd set blip, he remained remarkably focussed and relatively calm.

Murray's own comments on the match (BBC) were that it was a "scrappy, up and down affair", adding that "I don't think the standard of tennis was particularly good, I struggled a bit with my rhythm, but I got through."  A little harsh on himself, I think, but hopefully the 48 hour break will not only see his ankle improve but also give him time to assess his performance further and mentally iron out the wobbly bits whilst taking encouragement from the many flashes of brilliance which were on display.

PT that's interesting but..I've seen him do quite the opposite, usually at Masters against the big 3 but didn't he come out and just decimate Meltzer quite recently, was it AO?
I think Andy's form is so closely linked to how he can move,  that if he feels just a bit off it really rocks him and he struggles to find his form.
Also, I was saying to myself during these last matches, oh Andy always starts slowly but no he doesn't do that all the time. I remember him coming out like a rocket against Fed at Toronto, I think.
Last year I thought all the self-abuse was gone he seemed much "sunnier", suddenly it's come back.
Andy's a bit of an enigma isn't he?

I hope your right PT, that is about the results being totally unexpected.
Both Semis will give us sensational, edge of seat GS tennis.

Loved it - last tango in Paris, Jeremy Bates on a radical cucumber-and-water diet, as tired as a mood ring on a manic depressive - you've got some talent! lmao

Some of my favourite lines too Very Happy

Hopefully their match will have a proper start time and he can warm up right before the match and get his body in some kind of semblance for the match, ankle, teeth and elbow notwithstanding.

Does anyone read the Drew Lilley, as it happens report?  It's really funny sometimes, here's one quote "Murray is such a diesel, he's a 1970's estate car on a cold winters day that your Dad had to warm up for half an hour before he drove you to school", how true is that?  w00t
