Two conversations I overheard at Queens epitomised the problems Andy has with the great English public.  First a couple of posh young women who were drinking in the cafe area during andy's match though they had seats for centre court.  They were supporting Mahut insofar as they were paying attention to the tennis.  One then said to the other 'well I suppose you have to give it to Murray that he has some decent shots but he's so [long pause] unappealing'.
Second conversation later: a guy on his mobile phone.  It had made his day that Andy had lost.  Then went on to say he's watched virtually no tennis as the free Rjoka was so good and after all tennis is just a ball going back and forth over the net and which would you prefer - free Rjoka or tennis; it's a not brainer.

Says it all - he's not one of us  - thank god!!

Never ceases to amaze me, how people can be so rude.  I think I would have been very tempted to tell them

Some of the home nations are playing rugby in the southern hemisphere atm, and though were any of them playing England, I would support England but I sincerely want them all to stuff their opponents (Ireland came so close last night).  My Kiwi boss was most surprised.  I said why?  He said because I was English.  I said that I was British but I came from England.    What the hell is wrong with some people - why can't they support the British teams/players?  Does it matter what part of the country they come from?  Not in my eyes and that's whats wrong with a few people.

Yes I rather wish now I'd told that young woman that Andy has a legion of devoted fans who both appreciate his tennis and find him very appealing.  As for the guy with the mobile phone I think once I'd started I might have got arrested!

Maybe have some set responses, just in case. Or pretended to be on your phone and pass on the comments about obnoxious people at the tennis. Must admit that I've heard a few knockers at Andy's match but his tennis has always silenced them (lucky enough never to see him lose a match). Maybe I should go to the AO final Good luck charm and all that

I haven't missed the Queens Club tournament in over 30 years, but my friend and I said yesterday it's lost it's magic and I think that is due to it being such a corporate event, like Ruthie said wrong type of person there, I remember in the old days when there was a bomb alert walking over to the side of the Club with Goran and Pat Rafter.
Unfortunately Boodles is also a mainly corporate event not many tennis fan there.

I Have just watched the first and second set of this match.  Some of Andy's play was amazing with incredible shots.  He seemed to be worried about something.  Perhaps it was all the talk about his injuries especially as Tommy Haas had just said what he said also he is trying to contain his frustration.  I think a bit too much.  I would like to see a bit of temper with himself.  I personally am not concerned about him this year although it would be nice for him to do well but I still think next year is when we shall see the difference.
