Andy Murray appeared on the 'James Corden's World Cup Live' show that aired Tuesday on ITV1.

Whilst sitting with fellow guest and TV presenter Dermot O'Leary, Murray discussed the England football team and the idea of goal-line technology in football.

Murray also explained the controversial 'anyone but England' joke from 2006 that continues to plague his career but Corden showed great sympathy, claiming it was an example of the media twisting things.

Later on, Murray played a game with Tottenham Hotspur footballer Jamie O'Hara, in which Murray had to hit small footballs off of vuvuzelas with tennis balls, and O'Hara had to do the same but with footballs. One fan then got a chance to slow dance with the world No.4 at the end of the show.

The 'anyone but England' controversy is appallingly tedious for us fans but every chance he gets to reveal the truth behind it, the better. Each year it's still mentioned in the media by the ignorant and the hateful, it's appearances like these that will slowly eradicate that.

Will someone please explain to me how Andy could have appeared on James Corden's show when he was supposed to have left UK with Kim for a holiday in USA?

It was bandied about that he left UK shortly after losing to Nadal.

Where did you read that he had left the UK immediately? I think he stayed, there was even photos of him walking the dog on Sunday.

A couple of papers stated (suggested?) that he was on his way to USA to rest up with Kim before the North American hard-court stretch. Perhaps it was my wishful thinking.

I think that is happening after he's spent a week or two in the UK.

Thanks, Allan. I stand corrected.

I guess my wishful thinking was that he should get away from anything to do with tennis. However, laying up in Miami(?) would not distance him and Kim from the sport.

Courage isn't absence of fear but mastery of it.

I really enjoyed seeing Andy smiling and laughing again.  His reaction to his own rap song was hilarious.  But why on earth did the lucky lady have to wear an admittedly stunning evening dress when Andy was only dressed casually?  It looked decidedly odd.
