Terrible performance filled with mental midgetry. He'll probably end the year in 4th spot now - can't see Federer not winning this event, which I think takes the pressure off him in London.
I've seen worse. I'd rather have a fully fit Andy play Federer.
The only person that wants the No.3 spot is Andy. You're remembered for how many slams you win not what was your highest ranking was.
Berdych was, on the whole, the better player.
Rest up now Andy for the WTF and come out fitting fit!

Unlucky Murray, just one of those days, loved the way you still gave it everything
Berdych was more consistent....just
look forward to Murray at the O2

Despite a problem with that first serve, you matched a brilliant Berdych toe to toe until you dropped your serve at a point where it is always difficult to rescue the match, end of story. Let's move on

Andy appeared to let the ball changing incident get into his head for way too long. I just hope it wasn't that which influenced the outcome of the game. The calm, confident Andy disappeared and the mumbling, swearing (he was warned by the umpire), hitting trainers Andy reared its ugly head again. Not nice and I hope that version never returns.

If Andy's 1st serve was a bit better today, we all would not be having this conversation.

for all its worth, our andy had a good run. 17 match winning streak cannot be shrugged off just because he lost this one.
more time to recover for the O2 which is in 9 days.

I would and will never shrug of Andy, no one can win match after match, tournament after tournament, we all know that, no matter who is your favourite tennis player, you have to take the rough with the smooth and be realistic.

What I call Andy's "Djokovic noise" was only sporadic today, maybe it needed to be more to the fore.

I'd like to be impartial, but I can't!

Tough match to watch if you are a diehard Murray fan, I feel as if I have been through the wars. Third set was so stressful that I had to put it on pause and managed to go through a half bottle of black sumbuca and cry in the last point of the match. I was soooooooooo hoping Andy would win. But I'm still an Andy fan eat sh*t or die!
Me too. All is not lost who says Fed will win he has had hard matches with Berdych, After a rest Andy will be up and ready for the O2, also Andy must be so worn out, Fed and Djoko didnt play in Asia , and Berdych went out early, it takes a lot of physical and mental strengh to keep going, and he has been amazing these last few week.

Positives from this:
* Andy didn't play his best but still made Berdych, who was playing out of his skin, work hard for the win.
* I would have hated to see an exhausted Andy losing easily to Fed tomorrow - would not be good for his confidence going into WTF.
* Andy doesn't drop any points.
* He gets to go home and rest and, hopefully, cure those niggles before the O2.
Smuggerson didn't play well in his match. If he had been playing Fish I doubt that Fed would have won. If Berdych manages to play tomorrow as he did today he could well beat Federer. If it comes down to a Tsonga/Fed final, I'm optimistic that Jo will win with the partisan Paris crowd behind him.

I hope Andy goes on to do well at the O2, retains his No.3 position and goes into 2012 above Federer. Yes, I'm disappointed he didn't come through today, his matches would have added further enjoyment to my weekend but at least he will have R & R which I think he needs to help out those niggles.

Thanks Alis, I like these positives, just hope they go that way. But most important is that Andy has not lost his no.3 spot.

Exactly ChrisMac
and Berdych's serve was firing. That's the difference, though Andy did look out of sorts too.
