watched the whole match now - very enjoyable indeed and some great shot making from Andy.  Llodra does seem to bring out the best of him in terms of relaxed, sharp tennis.

How strange, in the pic, which is great, Andy's shirt does look orange. It was definitely red on my TV. Maybe red with an orange hue, but definitely red.

Ditto! Very Andy. Reminds me of his Asian swing a couple years ago!

Thanks, Katie - My word, that's a very relaxed smile from Andy - love it!

Wasn't it weird that Jake Garner was umpiring Andy's match last night? He did the final last year. If there hadn't been any matches before Andy's this year (and God knows there have been!) I'd swear Jake had spent the last 12 months stuck in the seat.

great report, and loved the picture, lovely look on Andy's face.  I have to agree that his first rounds are getting less stressful to watch as Andy seems more confident.

Great match report for a great match. Thanks Katie.

When I saw the pics of the red outfit a while back I wasn't sure about it. Actually on, it looks great. It makes Andy stand out without being garish.

It was great to see (even in highlights) Andy playing such a calm, collected first round. Mind you, that happens a lot now.

I'm glad they stuck with Andy on Ashe. It says a lot about his place in the game, but he also loves the night matches, so I think it was good for him. He definitely showed he deserved to be on there.

So from watching his post match press conference, it looks like the plan was for the night session yesterday to be Rafa's 2nd round match but due to the weather Andy was put in that slot instead, so i suppose it's testament to his new found place in the tennis pantheon that they chose to stick with putting his match on at night, he certainly entertained the crowd. Andy even said he was expecting to have his match moved to a different court.

In the end it's workd out nicely for Andy, Rafa and a few others have had a 2 day gap between matches, and at this early stage i can't see that as being ideal for rhythm etc.

Good report and excellent photo. As I don't have the benefit of Sky it was great to see Andy's new outfit.    Many thanks

Another good report Katie. I stayed up to watch it and it was well worth only getting a couple of hours sleep.I'll record the match highlights at 3pm. We now know what Andy is intent on achieving.

Thanks for another good report Katie.  I've just watched the edited version so far but look forward to watching the whole match as I liked what I saw.  A great start for Andy and good for him not allowing all the frustrations of the scheduling and the rain to get to him.  I know nothing about his next opponent I must admit and I think they've only met once.
