A counter puncher like Andy always fights back.

Woke up at about 3 am to see that the match was already halfway over with Andy leading and just about to break. My German comm was bursting with praise: total dominance, HC tennis from another planet, Raonic in utter despair. And yes, Andy somehow had the aura of invincibility around himself. I was happy to switch off after an hour with the sweetest dreams of victory. And what worries some of us had beforehand. But it's really good to see Milos bow and wait his turn.

Think it was Pat Rafter, Jan. But yes, Tomic does seem to be a bit of a loose cannon by the looks of it. Thanks Andrew muchly - I knew he was Australian and a Pat!

Touch the sky - and touch it he did.

Now actually seen the match - what a masterclass indeed. Andy just looked so invincible and calm and there were some cracker shots. Yes I noticed that Mr L actually cracked a smile at least twice! I don't think Andy did do his pointy thing to the sky at the end, which was surprising. I do wish Sky would show the on-court interviews as they sound much more fun than their own. Am so proud of Andy. Oh and welcome IwishIwaskim - good that you've decided to join in.

Well I guess Andy "adapted" well to the Raonic game then! Lol. Couldnt watch live but didnt sleep well dreamt Andy lost for a start and kept waking up. Was so relieved to wake up and see the great score. Have watched the replay of the first couple of sets and there was some awesome passing shots from Andy and fantastic serving. Just watched the Raonic post match press conference and he was far more humble. Just kept saying he tried everything and it kept coming back and Andy played tennis he'd never encountered before. Andy was very complimentary of his opponent as always and seems confident. Bring on Cilic.

Just brilliant. OH YES Bring on Cilic!! I knew you would be pleased. Just remember this, while you were in your cot, some of us were slogging it out with Andy in the middle of the night to secure a win against Raonic.

Not one break point for Milos during the whole match. Didn't even look like getting one - my comms, not me saying that. Well done Andy! Nice to see you got out of the right side of the bed today Phil (yeah, I guess the result helps too). Did you get watch it live Bev?

I think this teaches us that this sort of pre-match talk is just bluster, from any player. I'm glad that Andy doesn't engage in it because it just serves to fire up your opponent and makes you look silly when you get whacked.
If Andy had said half of what Raonic said (at the same age), he would have been pillaried by the media for years to come.

Hi all - my first post on MW although I have been lurking for a while. I was unable to stay up and watch last night and woke up with a sick feeling in my stomach while I checked the result - delighted for Andy - especially as a Scot living in England and having to put up with the anti-Murray baiting Can't wait for him to win his first Grand Slam - no doubt in my mind it is going to happen - and soon..... Hi there WIWK, welcome to the MW clan!

Welcome wiwK. Great post as always teejay.
Thanks Alis. I always worry I post too often and say too much here, but when Andy plays like that it's tough not to wax lyrical. I still think he was brilliant.
