Murray drawn in Federer's half at IW « on: March 10, 2010, 10:04 AM »

Andy Murray has been drawn in the same half as World No. 1 Roger Federer in the draw for this year's Indian Wells tournament.

The Scot has a bye in the first round and therefore will play either Robby Ginepri or Andreas Seppi in the second round.

Murray's likely path to the title is as follows:

R1: Bye
R2: Andreas Seppi
R3: Igor Andreev
R4: David Ferrer
QF: Robin Soderling
SF: Roger Federer
F: Rafael Nadal

Muzz hasn't played Ferrer or Soderling since 2006. Should be interesting!

Courage isn't absence of fear but mastery of it.

Should both make it to the QF, I think Soderling could be Andy's biggest test, although Ferrer could be tricky having been boosted by his recent DC success where he routed Wawrinka in 3 straight sets.

I hope he just comes out and rips it against federer, should he get that far, winning these tournaments are not so important now, its all about expanding his game.

Federer Nation shall rise again on Murray! A focused Federer will not lose agaisnt an aggressive Murray Mania!  Let's get real people.  Federer is still the force all tennis revolves around...watch out for Ernest Gulbis of Latvia...the next force in tennis...better than Murray....you heard it hear on Murray's home turf!

I think this could be Murray's to win, provided he can regain the form we saw at the AO.  I notice the draw shows that the semis and final could be a re-run of last year for Andy, but with Nadal coming back after injury and Federer possibly not 100% fit, there's a fair chance neither of them will get that far.

i'm a bit worried myself about the prospect of soderling in the quarters..i think with so many of the very top players coming back from injury or lay offs we could see someone outside of the top 4 win this one..i think cilic is in good form too and could be the one..

i hope andy looks a bit more focused in this tournament, hopefully the tipsarevic defeat will serve as a warning that there are plenty of players out there who can give him a troublesome time if andy is in any way below top form. he has a lot of ranking points to defend in the next couple of tournies, i'd feel much better approaching the french and wimbledon with andy still in the top 4 so it's quite important that he goes far at indian wells and miami.

as for federer it will be interesting to see how he does after his lay off recently..might be the perfect time for andy to get him here in the semi finals and try to wrestle the initiative back a bit after recent defeats to fed.

i've just completed my ATP challenge predictor and i've been positive and forecast a murray v cilic final..i'd settle for that! cmon yeah
