Andy Murray advanced to the semi-finals of the Japan Open in Tokyo after beating David Nalbandian 6-4 7-5.

The Scot was imperious on serve in the first set, dropping just three points. The second set was a tighter affair, with the pair repeatedly swapping breaks of serve. Murray was unable to convert a match point when serving for the match at 5-4, but immediately broke back. He made no mistakes the second time round, serving out to love.

This win is Murray's 19th out of his last 20. Next up is third seed David Ferrer in the last four after the Spaniard defeated Radek Stepanek.
