For anyone who missed it definitely worth watching highlights if you can.  I don't usually like watching when Andy has lost but I would this time and indeed just caught the end of them on eurosport earlier.

I really hope it is! Today's match was so much more interesting than yesterday's Nadal/Federer semi-final - there's only so many Rafa forehand to Federer backhand rallies that I can take!

Yes and isn't it nice that there is so much genuine warmth between them as we could see in that embrace - just as there is between Andy and Rafa.  The sooner smugfed bows out gracefully the better as far as I'm concerned.

I'm so proud of Andy. He left his heart on the court.
But I'm SO optimistic. No histrionics, no getting down on himself, no clutching body parts, no shouting at the box. He just kept coming back and back. Much of the time he outplayed Novak. One glaring error, should've made Novak serve out the 4th set. He gave it away which was poor tactically and he was always behind in the 5th. Bad.
And now it's time for Lendl to step forward. He's got a lot to do, but also very little.
Andy's serve was poor but did you see that forehand? So improved.
Andy,  wub
I totally agree, this is a totally different Andy.  So proud of him for never giving up.  I was late for work today, but by God I was not going to leave till the match was over.

Andy needs his serve to be a weapon, that is the only thing in his game that comes and goes.  He needs to be able to rely on it to get him out of trouble.  Perhaps Ivan will be able to help him with it.  And hopefully Ivan can make him believe that he can hold serve after breaking his opponent.

I haven't read his interview yet, like most of you, I'm feeling sad right now for Andy. But I will read it today..

Here's another interview he did with bbc, which I think someone has already mentioned but not sure posted the link - it's really positive while also being honest about the first and fourth sets.  I think it's just great that he can be talking this way about what it means for the coming season so soon after a heart-breaking defeat.  It makes me feel very confident about the coming season too.  Oh and just seen they're showing the whole thing again on the red button right now for people with satellite and cable.  Go watch if you missed it.

'For a good three hours, the semifinal between Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray here was, to put it bluntly, a mess. Both players were fighting themselves as much as the guy across the net.'

Steve Tignor agrees with me.

I was simply stunned that Murray made no attempt to win that service game at 1-5 in the fourth. It was a major tactical error that meant he served second in the decider.

I'm gutted but equally proud of Andy of the fight he put up against Novak. As others have said, this is the new improved Andy we have seen today, this time last year Andy would've accepted his fate 1 set down and 2 love down and just pretty much give up.

I see this defeat much like losing to Rafa at Wimbledon '08 when physically, Rafa was in a different league. We were left wondering as Andy had the tennis abilities but maybe wasn't as strong. Then we saw a transformed Andy physically and he went onto reach his first GS final and beaten Rafa along the way.

Today, I think we have seen the true potential of what Andy can achieve with a positive mental attitude along with an aggressive game. He fought until the very end and throughout the match, he had controlled his emotions beyond what people thought he was capable of. I think we have seen the forging of Andy 2.0 today and if we've already seen this transformation under Lendl in 2 weeks, I'm positive Andy will take this as a lesson and a stepping stone to achieve greater things.

Keep fighting Andy. I'll be cheering and be with you every step of the way.

Andy says it was adrenalin let-down (this is transcript of post match interview on AO website) :-

Q. It's a match of almost five hours. Novak said it was one of the hardest matches he ever played. How did you feel physically towards the end of the match?

ANDY MURRAY: I mean, that's the thing. I actually felt okay towards the end. You know, I was tired. You have the huge adrenaline rush at the end of the third set. Then you have a bit of a letdown and things start aching and are sore.

Towards the end of the fifth set I was actually feeling okay because the adrenaline gets back up and everything feels all right.

I'm sure that when I stand up from this seat, my body's going to be pretty painful.

Just watching the match now. andy has improved enormously, this is fantastic for the year ahead, he is not far behind any of the top 3. This is what he has been saying in his interviews. I am so pleased for him, Lendl has ALREADY changed Murray this is great . just wait. The Salem will come. If this had been played in the heat of the day Murray would have won. Well done Murray so looking forward to the rest of the year.

Jesus Christ I think you should maybe try and play for 5 hours in any sport and see if you would experience any mental letdown.

The bottom line is that we've seen a new Andy who is willing to fight until the very end. Sure, he tanked the 4th set but after going all out to win the 3rd TB, sometimes these things happen. The fact that at 5-2 in the 5th, Andy could've just given up but summed up every last ounce of energy to take it to 5-5 speaks volumes of how much heart he's got.

Some of Djokovic's retrieving today was unreal, I don't think even Rafa and Roger would be capable of replicating, never mind most players outside the top 4.

What did you forget that Rafa after giving his all to win the 3rd set against Novak at last year's USO final only to get breadsticked 61 in the 4th? Rafa never got any criticism and didn't Rafa lose to Nole 6 finals last year and only took 1 set each time he lost to Novak at Wimbledon and USO?
