Well, then it's safe to assume that that long term process has had a very good start. I think no one knows how painful and difficult things have to be from now on than Lendl and Andy.

You're definitely right about that. I kept on blinking more than once because Andy wasn't throwing tantrums. Let's hope he can do the same during the next high-level match, because then it'll be on for sure. Nowhere but up, now.

Great match from Andy, I'm really proud of the way he fought today against Djoko. Lendl has certainly made a difference even after such a short time, I'm so looking forward to 5 months time, when we are going to see a big difference to Andy performance. I just hope that second serve can improve, as that is where the big guys always get him.

We are left heartbroken again , but we should all be so proud of Andy as he fought and fought till the very end.

If he does not end up with a Grand Slam then fate will have played a very cruel hand on him as he is clearly one of the greatest players of all time even though he has yet to win a major. Sure the detractors will come out now telling him how he is not that good and how they would have done things differently well F*CK THEM  yawn they know nothing.

Sad today but Andy version 2.0 was made tonight.

That interview is mature, honest and for me extremely encouraging. I know that Lendl has only been there for a few weeks but OMG what an upbeat performance by Andy in today's match. the only downside was his play in the 4th set, which I just couldn't get my head round. But in the interview he explains how/why it happened succinctly. Bravo - what a match!

I know I'm paranoid. But am I paranoid enough?

Massive respect Andy - so many positives to take forward with the help of Mr Lendl.  Like others, I don't feel nearly as gutted as I might have done if Andy had played in his `old' spirit.

Feel really hopeful for the future.  I didn't expect such a close match to be honest.  Our boy has proved he can live with the best so only one step to go now.

Still have to watch the recorded match but it looks like it was a thriller. Andy has clearly improved from this time last year; he should be very proud, and he WILL win a slam this year. Can't wait to watch these two great players duke it out for 5 hours.

Hope Murray gets some much deserved rest now at home! And then psyches himself up for more battles.

Such a positive interview having just lost such a punishing match.  And what I particularly liked is that he took time to praise the linesmen and umpire.   From Aileen's post sounds like there have been some negative comments on the match thread.  That's a real shame and I hope those who have posted negatively will reflect and perhaps repent.
Oh and hope Andy gets those physical niggles sorted out ok before he's back in action again.  Sounds like he's unsure about DC.  Much as I'd like to see him play not sure he should if he's got some niggles to sort out and is too tired.

Great report, thanks.

I had to go out at 2-0 down in set 2, expected it to be all over when I got back nearly 2 hours later - but it was 5-5 in the third set!

It's such a shame that after a match like that Andy will drop 480 ranking points - it doesn't seem fair somehow!

I know but he should be able to make them up quickly in next couple of months given last year's slump

I have to agree; everything was different today and I don't exactly go along with some of Nigel's comments. I saw a different Andy today, and I think Ivan has already given him the edge he needs. Maybe not a "classic" in every sense of the word, but a great tennis match. He played the current "best" player in the world to the last ball. That's what it takes and I believe he let the rest of the boys know he's for real this year. Yeah, he took a nap now and again but woke up to come back to form, something he's failed to do in the past against the best.
Further thoughts; he still has to lose some of the obvious stress moniters which give the opponent a clue on how his game is going....a little to outward still. Maybe the Man can change that. I think that is what let Joker hold on when I thought Andy had him and Joker looked beat.
Does everyone agree Ivan the Terrible has made an impression already?

Devastated. Proud of his performance, but for the first time now im genuinely believing his major chance may have passed him by. i hope djokovic annihilates nadal so murrays efforts look even more impressive.
