Andy Murray is expected to captain Scotland in an inaugural team tennis event against England in Aberdeen in November.

Following his stellar performances at Wimbledon and the US Open, the 18-year-old from Dunblane has been asked to lead Scotland against an England side likely to be spearheaded by Greg Rusedski.

Neil Fletcher, the convener of resources and management committee, said:
This event will be a first for Aberdeen and will provide an opportunity for Scottish tennis fans to see Murray perform on home soil. A key part of sponsorship would be to provide coaching sessions for juniors, giving local youngsters the opportunity to meet and be taught by the UK's best talent.
