Teenage tennis ace Andy Murray is desperate to pass his driving test - so he can escape his mum's singing. The demands of life as a professional mean the 18-year-old has had no time for lessons, which means he has to rely on mum Judy totake him to tournaments. And Andy, of Dunblane, Perthshire, admits her habit of singing while changing gears drives him round the bend.
He said:
I do want to start driving, not because I want a flash car but just because I want to get around the place.
I don't want to get the tube everywhere and when you have to spend time in the car with your mum you have to listen to her singing.
Andy, now in London, added:
I just want to live a normal life and concentrate on my tennis.
He has leapt to number 72 in the world rankings after just a few months as a senior professional.
Andy was the last Brit in this year's Wimbledon, while earlier this month he reached the final at the Thailand Open, narrowly losing to world number one Roger Federer
