I quite agree these ex players should shut up. Petchy never reached the heights of murray but behind the TV lens he thinks he knows it. i know he coached Andy for awaile but let it be,
Andy is improving by the minute,it will all click, before we know it. Have faith, Lendl would not have taken on the job, that i know.
Actually Petchey is usually fair in his comments about Andy and is ultimately very supportive of him.  While I'm a fan of Johnnie Mac I fear he's allowed his hatred of Lendl to get the better of him.  I seem to remember him saying once he'd offered to give Andy advice and I don't think Andy took it up so I guess he wasn't too pleased when he saw Andy hitch up with Lendl.
I agree with bbh's earlier post about Andy fhs.  I think the old Andy would have gone back to his traditional mode of play once it was clear the fh was misfiring but instead he stuck with it and the more he uses it the more he will be drilling it up the line eventually .  yay

I get Johnny Mac as commentator and have listened to him for many years at all the majors.  Can't rememember him offering Andy advice/coaching and being turned down? confused I'm happy to be proven wrong.  I do remember he offered to coach Fed around 2009 and there was a fair bit of media about that at the time.
I really enjoy his commentary, and he always seems to be well informed and very pro-Andy.  Comes across as liking him and gives very fair and positive commentary.
Can't say the same for his brother. He's definitely not a fan of Andy.

He offered a number of times, during the time Andy was was without a coach, it was reported in the press and he also said it either during Wimbledon or USA slam, I think it should be remembered he didn't like Lendl so that could be the reason for his last criticism of Andy and where he is with Lendl.

He's never forgiven Lendl for beating him at RG and preventing him win all 4 slams.  And called him a machine I think.  That said he's been a breath of fresh air in BBC's wimbledon commentary and always have loved his tennis.

Anyone else starting to feel that watching Murray is becoming a little sad, inevitable and predictable?

I can predict the rest of the season - a Masters title, a decent run of two 250 wins in the autumn and a semi-final spot at Wimbledon and the US.

Sorry, folks. Just the way I feel. I can't see a way forward in the slams.

Can say the same for every player in the top 10.

Which leads me to believe it's the calm before the storm..

Your goals minus your doubts equal your reality

With this one I just think Andy was beaten by someone who, though he is more than a clay court specialist, is a clay court specialist, if you know what I mean.

Andy has never beaten Ferrer on the clay. I think it is as simple as that.

I do think the back might have been an issue in the match, though Andy would never use it as an excuse. The clay is a tough surface if you aren't fully fit, and I don't believe for a second that Andy was. Frankly I don't think he was for Wimbledon either, even bearing in mind how well he did, but grass is slightly easier on the body than clay.

Still, quarter finals at Roland Garros isn't bad. It was brave of him to fight on after the second round.
