Andy Murray can have no complaints, with the draw he has been dealt for the final grand slam of 2010.

The in-form Scot has a relatively comfortable passage into the second week, with Lukas Lacko, Ruben Ramirez Hidalgo and Stanislas Wawrinka the first three expected opponents.

Beyond that lies a potential re-match with home favourite Sam Querrey, and then perhaps Tomas Berdych. Both players have beaten Murray this year.

If he can make it that far, it is expected to be Rafael Nadal who will stand between the world number four and a second US Open final.

R1 > Lacko
R2 > Dustin Brown or Ruben Ramirez Hidalgo
R3 > possibly Wawrinka (seeded 25)
R4 > possibly Querrey (seeded 20) or Almagro (seeded 14)
QF > Berdych possibly
SF > Rafa or Verdasco (the highest seeds)
F > Federer (probably)

I really like Murray's draw this year, don't know if he'd be able to do the whole Nadal/Fed back to back again this year especially if he has a tough match against Berdych, but we'll see when we get there.

Querrey is a slight worry and Berdych is a big worry. But if Andy is gonna step up this is the kind of draw he should take advantage of. I think he will. cmonandy

Courage isn't absence of fear but mastery of it.

Ignore him - he might go away! Smile

I'd never heard of Lacko till now either.  Trouble is you never know what these sort of players will be like, but Andy should be able to ease his way into the tournament, which is good.  Berdych could be a real headache, though, should they meet.

I think Murrays draw is a lot more difficult than Nadal and Federers. Berdych has the most difficult draw with Llodra in the 1st round.

^ Personally, I've given up trying to work out what suits Andy in terms of a draw.  He's beaten both Fed and Nadal recently.  He's also lost to a lot of players who, on paper, he shouldn't have.   He has the talent, it just depends if he has the will.  There's nobody out there who can bother him on his best of days.  For me, he just needs to make his best days the norm.

Comparison :  Lacko has 691 points,  Andy has 5125 points.  One could say that over the last 12 months, Andy is 7 times as good as Lacko lol.

On the ATP tour (discount the weedy Challenger tournaments), Lacko most impressive result is a mere quarter final at Memphis (ATP 500).

Enough said.  Assuming Andy is healthy, Andy to win in 3 straight forward sets.

Lacko comfortably knocked Baghdatis out of the 1st round at Wimbledon in 4, and Hewitt was his most recent scalp in Atlanta in 2 straight sets.  I don't think Andy'll be taking anything for granted here.  Like most top players, he'll be glad just to get through the first round.
