In one of the articles i read yesterday JW said it pissed him off and then he said it made him laugh.
As in, pissed him off until he reflected on the match?

I know I'm paranoid. But am I paranoid enough?

Back on topic for a moment... did anyone for a second feel that Murray's trick shot, especially as it was done twice, was possibly a little disrespectful to Tsonga?

I'm sure Andy did it just for fun and I'm glad he did it as it got some good press attention. But I tried to put myself in Tsonga's shoes and after such a tough match, wouldn't it feel like your opponent is mocking you?

Yes, very much so. It wasn't at a point when the match was done and dusted, either. That shot said 'I am going to win and there's nothing you can do about it'. Would have thought Tsonga took it well. But if I were Andy, I'd have had a quiet word afterwards, just saying he didn't mean to be disrespectful.

I too think he done it for fun, but I also think it was very much a 'spur of the moment thing'!  A moment of madness! If he'd had time to think about it.........I don't think he would have done it.

Glad I'm not the only one then. Maybe they have a good relationship off-court which is why he thought it was OK.

Maybe that comment came after Andy had a chance to talk to him.

Yeah hopefully.

I too would be very surprised if he hadn't had a word with Tsonga after the match.

Well, just perhaps Andy found Tsonga's show boating quite "pissing off" too.
Andy gets labelled a dour grumpy Scot then when he smiles and does a bit of crowd pleasing himself, he's labelled disrespectful. Can't win.

Tell me though why is it thought disrespectful when done by Andy but Fed does it all the time and nothing is said.

We have a huge thread about how disrespectful Federer is to his opponents but that's on here. Unfortunately, it seems everywhere else people just look up at him with awe and think he does no wrong.

The only reason I think he wouldn't have done it with time to think is because not only did he risk losing a point 'in a final for Gawd's sake', but he'd have looked a right dork as well, if he'd missed! I'm sooo glad he did it though..........it was very funny! w00t

Yeah, I was thinking that it was a very brave move indeed given how he'd look if he didn't win the point.

.......Tsonga's show boating.....

This is why I think he did it and why we are not likely to ever see him pull a stroke like that against most -- if not all -- of the other players.

Tsonga's sense of fun! I like it and I think Andy doe's too.

If Fed did it we would all be talking about what a tennis genius he is, and what a great shot, and how he just flow and plays with style and all that BS.  No-one criticised Tsonga for diving around like a lunatic.  I thought it was really cool, but I wouldn't recommend it too often as it might annoy your opponent.

I hope he does it from time to time, it will be an instant hit in the next tennis console game!

Since when is diving on court to reach a point the same as doing an unnecessary trick shot?

When I play on grass, I also sometimes dive but I do it for a purpose, not to impress anyone.
