People vote with their heart and not their head.
Well that doesn't say much for Andy's fans then.  Better to be an optimistic voter from the heart.  Too much thinking can get in the way sometimes.

On the official AO site poll, just over 4% of people think Andy is going to win the title. That's insane!

Fed is topping it @ 45%, with with Djokovic and Nadal at 27% and 21% respectively.

I think it should be clear, even if you stick to MW that Fed fans have the most issues when it comes to dealing with reality  Whistle

To be honest, I have no faith whatsoever in opinion polls about anything.  They're usually way off the mark because they aren't a true representation of what the public in general really think - and just under 21,500 is a mere drop in the ocean of the global tennis fraternity.

That was me drchef... you voted yet?... Anyone else... ? help

Yeh twice!
I think that the vast majority of Fed votes must stem from part time tennis fans, not that I am disregarding him mind you. Of the top four, Federer would probably be the person I would least like Andy to meet in a final. As much as it grieves me to say it, im not in the "Federer is past it camp"..

I am however in the Rodger Federer is a #@1#@@$&4d#@!%";:%#e$& ?%@### camp.

I too would hate Andy to meet Fed in a GS final once again.  However, like you I do believe he can still win a Slam or two, but probably not this one.  Don't know why, just a gut feeling.

I didn't explain my point clearly. I was thinking more of Federer fans voting in their droves.  The % of votes he has is very surprising.

Oh I see.  Yes the Fed % is very strange.  I could have understood it had that gone to Djokovic.  Incidentally, adding up the %s comes to a total of 95% - so what's happened to the missing 5%?

Just heard Laura Robson has qualified for the main draw as has James Ward. Thats 6 Brits in the AO incl. Heather Watson who will play Azarenka.

TOMIC has beaten Mardy Fish in the Kooyong Classic. That will boost his confindence, he'll be dangerous for sure.

typical as usual.... Fed gets what he want  ranting  I think the organisers still think he is number 1 or somethin... they need to get something straight here... Fed is playing like a turkey whilst Andy is playing exceptionally brilliant.. ... they will be embarrassed when Fed goes out early... that's my prediction anyway... you never know with GS
cmonandy  I bet Lendl will show these organisers a thing or two... he would destroy them

I still refuse to make any overt predictions. My thoughts for OzO are imbedded in me.

However, I should like to refer to a very early post in which I stated that I felt Andy would be in Novak's half of the draw, thus avoiding Nadal.

Of course I'm hoping that Andy will win the AO, but hand on heart I think it's a bit soon to see any changes in Andy, believe, is one of the main factors. I think the FO is going to be were we see a change in Andy, that's the Slam I'm really looking forward to see.

I'd like to be impartial, but I can't!

That is just stupid Fed hasn't won a slam for two years now, so if he couldn't at 28 can he at 30 , I don't think so! I know Andy hasn't yet but he is younger and better now in my opium!! So we will see. Good luck Andy.  yay

Me too, Aileen. I think he and Ivan need a month or two to 'blend' a bit and for anything new Lendl brings to Andy's game to integrate with his A game. Strangely enough I wonder if he won't make the French Open Final this year. Something is sure to happen when you least expect it. Just read ChrisMac's post - great minds think alike, Chris!

It's any mental change which will be interesting and, hopefully, decisive and that may take time.  Eurosport start transmission at 12 midnight on Sunday night according to the Telegraph.
